4 In a very large forest, far far away, there is an old oak tree

Hidden between the roots of the oak tree, there is a small door Look! It opens A small frog comes out His name is

Hopper Hopper always has the craziest ideas One time he

wants to be the first flying frog and the next he pretends to be a

monster He is very playful and has many friends Nibbles is

Hopper’s best friend He is a cheerful mouse, who always enjoys

laughing at the frog’s crazy pranks Blinders is a small mole, who

looks up to Hopper But he just would never dare to do-what

Hopper is up to However, together they do! Flopsy is a small

rabbit with a sweet nature and as the only girl hangs out with the

boys But, she acts the tough guy, just like her three friends!

In the village where the children live, there is also the little shop

of Mister Owl At times, Mister Owl can be very strict with

Hopper But Ï am certain that he likes Hopper and his friends

Having assembled everything, Hopper

over a branch of the tree There! Everything is ready Hopper

climbs on the seesaw and he counts down for launch: “One,

two, three! He lets go of the rope The barrel drops on the seesaw

It knocks over and catapults Hopper into the air

For a moment, Hopper feels as if he is flying But then, he

But again, he does not manage to fly

Onto another plan: Hopper wants to make a hot air balloon with

a plastic bag When he takes off for a moment, he shouts with joy:

°Yippee, Lam the first flying frog!

The next day, Hopper is on the front page of all the newspapers

There is even a picture of him You can see Hopper hanging off the branch of a tall tree Below, a group of people are watching

Hopper got a boomerang as a present “What is

throwing thing If you throw it away, it returns as a matter of

course.’ “That is clever,’ says Nibbles “Try it!

Hopper throws the boomerang away Wop-wop-wop goes the

boomerang as it spins through the air Hopper and Nibbles see

the boomerang make a big curve Then it disappears behind a

tree ‘Hey, I don’t see the boomerang anymore,’ says Nibbles

‘Patience Nibbles Just look behind you,’ says Hopper while he

skilfully catches the boomerang in mid-air

‘Shall I throw it a bit further this time?’ asks Hopper As hard

as he can, he swings the boomerang into the air ‘Wow, that’s

really far,’ shouts Nibbles ‘surely, it will never come back.’

‘Don’t panic, there is nothing that can go wrong,’ says Hopper convinced

Crack! Tingling Ouch! The boomerang has ended up in the

shop of Mister Owl There is a large hole in the window Pieces

of broken glass are spread over the ground Mister Owl looks

angry at Hopper, who just arrives to fetch his boomerang

‘Who is going to repair my window?’ Mister Owl asks angrily

“Unfortunately, I have no money, Mister Owl I am so sorry!

says Hopper sadly

The friends of Hopper come sunning Nibbles, the clever little

mouse, comforts Hopper and whispers something in his ear

‘Mister Owl, if you take care of the new glass, then we will paint

the window frame in a new colour It could use some paint,

couldn’t it?” Hopper suggests carefully

‘Oh, you are probably right,’ sighs Mister Owl ‘The window

was quite old I will go and fetch some paint and

then you can see to it that my shop

looks all nice and perky again.”

And the friends all agree to it

go out on the street and scare the people!’

At night, Hopper feels like prowling about some More

Nibbles, Flopsy and Blinders find Hopper standing

next to a large wooden thing It looks like a casket of

oranges with wings “This is my rocket,’ says Hopper “What

do you think?’ “Well Cool!” says Nibbles “Can you travel into

space with that thing?’ ‘Of course!” replies Hopper proudly “There

isa bicycle in the rocket Ifyou ride it very fast, the propeller

starts

moving and the rocket launches.’ ‘Do you really think the rocket

will fly?’ asks Flopsy “What happens when you get tired?’ questions

Blinders ‘I have practised so I can cycle while sleeping,’ says

Hopper

He rides his bicycle as fast as he can ‘Bye-bye!’ he shouts

Hopper cycles for hours and hours It gets dark His legs are getting tired but he can not really stop because otherwise the rocket will

come to a halt ‘Keep cycling, he says to himself

He is really dead tired Eventually, Hopper is exhausted

and falls asleep When he wakes up, he opens the hatch

of his rocket ‘I have arrived on another planet, Hopper says

happily Suddenly, he sees three silver little men coming towards

him

‘Space traveller, welcome!’ says one of them ‘You presents for us?’

he asks in a strange language “Yes, but of course!’ says Hopper

He grabs some sweets from his pocket and throws them at the

little men They go away all laughing ‘But wait, shouts Hopper

Then he realises that the planet resembles his own village very

much He hears the little men laugh They are Nibbles, Flopsy

and Blinders in a tin foil costume “Well, am T not in space?’

Hopper asks glumly “You never got off

the ground When we came to look, you were asleep.”

‘Yee, Hopper sighs, ‘in that case, I

cycled the whole night for nothing!’

Hopper runs into Nibbles, who asks him “Hey, what

are you going

to do?

‘J am going to fix that wretched pot hole so that the wood

path becomes all nice and fat again, answers Hopper ‘Lam

from this little pile here.’ He points at the bump in the road, “Then

the pot hole will get filled and at the same time, this bump will

disappear Result: a whole new flat wood path Come back later

Afver a while, Nibbles returns The pot hole

is completely gone

‘Hey Hopper, well done!’ says Nibbles ‘I agree, says Hopper

But then Nibbles looks to the place where the bump used to be

“That eh well, when the bump was gone, mY pot-hole was not completely filled up So [needed some extra sand So I dug another small pot hole ’ That Hopper! In order to fill up one

pot hole, he dug a new one elsewhere

‘But I have another idea We can fetch buckets with water

fill the pot hole with water, Hopper suggests

‘But that is not going to flatten the road, is it? Nibbles asks

‘No, but then we can play a nice game: jumping puddles!”

‘And that is what the friends do Until they are soaking wet!

G = The little shop of Mister Owl is closed He is not

feeling very well He asked Nurse Squirrel to stop by for

a moment ‘You know Mister Owl, you are not all that ill You

just have a minor cold If you keep warm, you will get better

more quickly,’ Nurse Squirrel says

Hopper walks by the house of Mister Owl He sees Mister Owl

sitting in his armchair “Hey, what is Mister Owl doing now?’

Hopper asks surprised He knocks on the door

‘Hello Hopper, how nice of you to come and visit me Would

you also like a cup of tea?” Mister Owl asks with a runny nose

‘I would love to! Hopper says, while looking at the knitting

‘Oh, you are probably curious about what I am making Well,

in order to cure myself, I have to keep warm But it is so cold in

the house that I have decided to knit some warm clothes.’

‘Indeed, it is a bit chilly in here ’ Hopper says ‘But I have an

idea See you later Mister Owl!’ Hopper yells on his way out

Hopper went to fetch Nibbles Together they pull a large basket

into the woods The wind howls through the trees The leaves

swirl around The two boys gather as much wood as they can

The basket full of branches is heavy Together they carry the

basket to the house of Mister Owl

‘Hello, here 1 am back again,’ Hopper yells “Together with

Nibbles and some fire wood!’

Mister Owl lights the fire, much to his contentment With

de crackling fire, the warm tea, the tasty biscuits and the nice

company of the two children, Mister Owl feels much better

already

And Hopper is but all to pleased that he has

been able to help somebody.

Hopper overheard Mister Ow! talk about his precious

He was so curious that he went up t0 Mister Owl’s

Tt must mark the spot where gold and jewellery are buried

Hopper called together all his friends to go on a treasure

Because they can not come to an agreement, the friends split into -

two groups But after hours of searching for the treasure in vain, they arrive again at the house of Mister Owl

Mister Owl has put on his best togs He is hopping around

cheerfully

‘Yippee, today | will see my precious!’ they hear him yell

“We must keep an eye on Mister Owl Maybe the treasure map

was a trap! Hopper says determined

A bit later, a woman knocks at Mister Owl’s door Mister Owl gives her a big kiss: ‘My dear precious, finally you have arrived!’

‘Hey kids, why are you hiding there in the bushes? Come here and

| will introduce you to my precious!

‘Oh no, the precious of Mister Owl is his new girlfriend and

not

golden treasure, Hopper sighs Nibbles, Blinders and Flopsy

laugh very hard at the disappointed Hopper Then they welcome the lovely Miss Owl with a handshake

When Hopper woke up this morning, everything ~>

had gone white A thick layer of snow covered the

entire playground ‘Oh no,’ Hopper says; ‘T wanted to play football! I hope the snow will melt quickly because what on

earth can you do with it?”

He sees his friends are outside playing wearing warm hats and

scarves ‘Hey! Hopper shouts while still putting on his shoes,

‘Let’s play football!’

But Nibbles, Blinders and Flopsy don’t feel like playing

football “We would rather have you join us playing in

the snow! they shout back “We are making a giant snowman.’

‘No, just forget it, Hopper sighs bored

Suddenly, he feels something cold on his head

In order to tease his friend, Nibbles threw him

a snowball Hopper is amused He makes a

whole pile of snowballs and hides behind a bush From time

to time, he throws a snowball at his friends They don’t know

where Hopper is, so every snowball comes as a surprise “Ha-ha,`

Hopper chuckles softly whenever he hits somebody

Finally, Nibbles, Blinders and Flopsy figured out where Hopper

is hiding They plan a counter-attack ‘One, two, three, now!”

Nibbles counts Together, they all throw snowballs at Hopper

at the same time

He surrenders and throws himself in the snow Eventually,

he does not mind so much that there is snow today He is

having such fun with his friends

= and the snowballs He has

long forgotten about his

football game.

Then these adventures of Hopper are just perfect!
