TERMS OF ADMISSION.*The requisites for admission to the Freshman Class are,testimonials of a good moral character, a thorough acquaint-ance with English, Latin and Greek Grammar (Hadley'sGreek and Harkness' Latin, preferred), four books of Cae-sar's Commentaries, the Catiline of Sallust, six books ofthe y^neid of Virgil, six Orations of Cicero, Latin Compo-sition as far as Part Third of Harkness* Introduction, threebooks of Xenophon's Anabasis or an equivalent, Ancientand Modern Geography, Arithmetic, and Algebra to Equa-tions of the Second Degree in Davies' Bourdon It isrecommended to students in preparation, to read attentivelysome manual of Greek and Roman History.Candidates for advanced standing are examined in thepreparatory studies, and in the various studies to which theclass they propose to enter have attended Those who areadmitted from other Colleges must present certificates ofregular dismission In all cases testimonials of good moralcharacter are required.The stated times for examinations are Tuesday beforeCommencement, and the first day of the first term.SELECT COURSE.Individuals of suitable age and attainments will be al-lowed to pursue a Partial Course, for any length of timenot less than one year, selecting such studies as they maydesire They will be required to recite with the regularCollege Classes at least twice a day, and to continue throughthe term any study commenced They will have access tothe Libraries and Lectures, and on leaving the Institutionwill be entitled to a certificate of their respective acquire-ments in the studies on which they have passed an exami-nation.

In this department the regular course embraces tion in the French and German Languages.French : Otto's Grammar and Bocher's French Reader,Textes Classiques XVIII E et XIX E Siecles.German : Comfort's German Course,Adler's German Reader,Schiller's Wilhelm Tell,Goethe's Hermann and Dorothea.ADMISSION OF WOMEN.The courses of study are now open to young women,

instruc-on the same terms as to young men.EXHIBITION.There is an exhibition of the Senior Class at the end

of the first term, at which honorary parts, consisting ofEnglish, Greek, French, and Latin versions are assigned tomembers of the Junior Class, whose rank is such as toentitle them to the distinction.PRIZE DECLAMATIONS.There is a Prize Declamation of the Sophomore Class

at the end of the Spring Term, and of the Junior Class,speaking original articles, at the end of the Summer Term

PUBLIC WORSHIP.All the students are required to attend some place ofpublic worship on the Sabbath ; each student or his parent

or guardian being permitted to select for attendance either

of the places of public worship in the village.EXAMINATIONS.There is a public examination of all the Classes at theclose of each term In the Mathematical and most of theEnglish branches the student is required to exhibit hisattainments, in any part of the term's study assigned to him,without being questioned, and to conduct the discussionhimself The final examination of the Senior Class occursfive weeks before Commencement.TERM BILLS.There is kept an accurate account of each student'sabsences from all exercises upon which his attendance isrequired ; also, of his general conduct and scholarship.This account, in connection with the regular term bill, em-bracing the charge for Tuition, Room-rent, use of Libraryand Incidentals, is sent to the student's parent or guardian

at the close of each term.COMMENCEMENT AND VACATIONS.Commencement is on the last Thursday of July Thefirst vacation is of five weeks, from Commencement; thesecond is of eight, from the second Wednesday of Decem-ber ; the third is of one week, at the close of the secondterm The first term is of fifteen weeks ; the second andthird terms, of twelve weeks each The terms are so ar-ranged as to give a long vacation in the Winter, which may
