Exploring Generational Differences Between Employers and Employees Relevant to Employee Morale and Communication
Shoals Ballroom B
Due to the existence of four generational groups in the workforce, employee engagement related to employee morale and
communication is affected Presently, the workplace consists of older and younger workers, often clashing as they interact Each
generational group has its own distinct characteristics, life experiences, values, attitudes toward work, which affects the work environment
Although many organizations are attempting to balance the generational groups and to manage their differences in an effort to bridge the gap in employee engagement relative to employee morale and communication, there is also a great need for academic
organizations to balance generations

Feedback: Giving and Receiving Effectively
Florence
Based on Douglas Stone and Sheila Heen’s New York Times Bestseller Thanks for the Feedback – The Science and Art of Receiving Feedback Well, we will discuss the challenges of feedback by diving into the three feedback triggers: truth, relationship, and identity We will discuss how to identify your triggers and blind spots in order to improve how you receive feedback to prevent you from immediately playing the defense The discussion will wrap up by focusing on feedback in conversations;
feedback doesn’t mean you have to internalize the information you receive, but rather that you learn how to engage in the feedback conversation skillfully The feedback tools learned in this session can be utilized in professional and personal settings even “when it is off base, unfair, poorly delivered, and frankly, you’re not in the mood.”
