17 member in good standing Children or grandchildren of deceased Local 17 members are also eligible Suspended,
forfeited or withdrawal card members are not eligible to apply All applicants must be accepted into an accredited college at the time the award is issued Please note: All current and previous 4-year scholarship award winners are not eligible to apply for a
Scholarship until their 4-year scholarship award is fully disbursed Each applicant winner will only be allowed to win one (1) scholarship award per year This gives every applicant an opportunity at winning a scholarship award

LABOR HISTORY EXAM – SPONSORED BY MASSACHUSETTS AFL-CIO
HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS ONLY
1. NEW THIS YEAR: The Mass AFL-CIO requires all students taking the Labor History Exam to register online at
https://www.massaflcio.org/scholarships Registration will begin on Monday, November 5, 2018 through Friday December 14, 2018
2. Once the application has been submitted to the Mass AFL-CIO, it is the student’s responsibility to notify their guidance office
that they plan on taking the Labor History exam on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 This is very important, especially for high
schools that are out of the state of Massachusetts All schools will be notified after the winter break of all their registered students
3. The completed bottom half of this letter STILL NEEDS to be emailed to dthomas@17boston.org or mailed to Sheet Metal Workers’ LU #17 1157 Adams St Dorchester, MA 02124 Attn: Debbie Thomas – to be registered for the Local 17 Scholarship Lottery drawing
4. VERY IMPORTANT: The study guide was re-written this year; students should not study the old guide The new study
guide will be available for download on Monday, December 17, 2018 at www.massaflcio.org/scholarship-program
