Trang 2The Tri-State Multiple Sclerosis Association is proud to bestow the
2020 Spirit Award on Molly Jillson, an individual living with multiple sclerosis
Molly is being recognized for her support
of the Tri-State Multiple Sclerosis Association, which includes the creation
of “Strike Out MS”, an annual softball tournament
Molly was born in Evansville to Rick and Janice Jillson She has two older brothers, Luke and Seth Jillson She is also blessed to be part of a large extended family living in the Greater Evansville area
A graduate of Reitz Memorial High School, Molly is a junior honors student at the University of Southern Indiana She is majoring in Statistics with the goal
of working to discover new treatments and find cures for chronic diseases like multiple sclerosis
Molly was diagnosed with MS in July 2018, at the age of 19 As a former high school and travel softball player, she struggled initially with how to balance the reality of her diagnosis with her love for the game of softball Ultimately, this led Molly and her father, Rick, to create the Strike Out MS softball tournament The initial event, in October 2019, raised more than $7,500 for the Tri-State Multiple Sclerosis Association, along with significant publicity
From the moment she received her diagnosis, Molly has approached her situation with positivity and a determination to live her life to the fullest She recently discovered Club Pilates, which helps her remain strong physically and emotionally She and her longtime boyfriend, Alex, enjoy spending time together bowling and playing guitar
One of Molly’s big goals is to grow the Strike Out MS tournament into the largest annual fundraiser for the Tri-State Multiple Sclerosis Association She is excited
to have this year’s date set for October 16-18 at the Deaconess Sports Park for this USA softball-sanctioned event
