Chimi's mission is to help people realize their highest potential by connecting to their Purpose As a successful entrepreneur and much sought after consultant, speaker, trainer and grant writer, she is
passionate about creating programs and initiatives that develop leaders and promote an equitable, inclusive environment As a seasoned Higher Education professional for 19 years, Chimi has worked extensively on women’s and gender issues and topics relating
to other marginalized populations She directed two university Wom-en’s Centers, one at a historically black university (HBCU) and one at a predominantly white university (PWI) She also was at the helm of a volunteerism/social justice organization, and has led a program designed to help at-risk youth pursue higher education
Chimi was the co-Principal Investigator of the only published study that exists on Sexual Assault at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and has been a consultant for the Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women, the North Carolina Co-alition Against Sexual Assault, the North Carolina CoCo-alition Against Domestic Violence and the Mississippi Coalition Against Sexual Assault She also serves on both state-wide Domestic Violence Prevention and Sexual Assault Prevention taskforces
She co-founded Helpers and Advocates for Violence Ending Now (HAVEN), an
award-winning program which trains faculty, staff, and students to be allies for students who are survivors of sexual and relationship violence and stalking, and Circle of Sisters,
an initiative dedicated to women’s leadership development She has successfully applied for and has been awarded over $2 million in grants and sponsorships She is proud to have created a bystander intervention training specifically for HBCUs and students of
col-or at all colleges and universities called "BOUT that Life."
A native of Durham, NC, Chimi is proud to have received both her BA and MA in
psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill and North Carolina Central University, respectively

Learn about the ins and outs of the organization of One Act From peer educators to a Steering Committee, you will learn how the organization operates to achieve their goal of prevention of violence Presenters will break-down the various positions and responsibilities of every person that is involved in the organization and then talk about how all members are held accountable This workshop will highlight how One Act has tried to influence change across the socio-ecological model at UNC- Chapel Hill
Con-SEN (ate)-Sual: Engaging Student Senate in Sexual Violence Prevention

In this workshop, presenters will outline the intentional methods that the student government has employed
to have a visible and institutionalized investment in sexual violence prevention Because of student
government’s wider reaching channels of communication, it can play a valuable role in extending the sexual
violence dialogue to previously uninformed student populations The presenters will give recommendations
to other student governments for how to implement these methods on their campuses, and emphasize how both macro- and micro- level types of support can influence the success of sexual violence prevention initia-tives and organizations
We Are Here NC: Ending Sexual Violence on Campus

We Are Here NC is a movement created by students at Duke to end sexual violence on college campuses We are all victims when any one of us is harmed As part of this movement, students created a Vision Wall on campus On a visible wall on campus, students posted the question "Imagine a world where sexual violence doesn't exist What’s different?" Sticky notes and writing implements allowed members of the campus
community to post anonymous responses Examples included, "We could all really dance," "I could forget," and "I wouldn't be so fucking exhausted." In collaboration with Hidden Voices, students are in the process of creating a national Vision Wall movement with the goal of having a wall up on a campus in every state during the "red zone" this coming fall Participating schools will share Vision Wall posts via social media platforms In this session, summit participants will have the opportunity to create a vision wall for the summit and to understand how to create a wall on their own campuses Students part of the We Are Here NC movement will also talk about how they have changed policy on sexual violence at Duke through a student developed
survey, a policy recommendation letter directed to the Gender Violence Task Force, and a video that

In this workshop, presenters discuss the queer experience of sexual and intimate partner violence This will include understanding the unique challenges that LGBTQ people face as well as building an understanding of how heteronormativity silences queer voices In addition, we will discuss programming at UNC- Chapel Hill that promotes healthy queer relationships as well as addressing bystander intervention skills through a queer lens

Developing a Fresh and Effective Peer Education Program: Everything You Need to Know From Recruitment to Sustainability

Are you interested in starting a peer education program? Do you already have a program but need more diverse membership and campus buy-in? Do you need to secure a campus home and advisor? Do you want to build long-term sustainability and financial support? Are you interested in incorporating new and exciting campaigns into your work? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this workshop is for you! Sam has been with The Movement, NC State University’s IPV/SV peer education program for several years, and Juliette served as her course instructor and group advisor Together through examples, images, activities, and anecdotes, they will share how the group was started, their tips on recruitment, sustainability, campus buy-in, financial support, and how to develop new and engaging awareness campaigns Participants will have time to work on an individualized list of action steps and have time for Q&A
