Trang 11• Be a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident in Canada
• Be domiciled in Canada
• Must meet either of the criteria below upon 1 October 2021:
ØBe at least 18 and have not reached your 24th birthday (must have been born after October 1, 1997 and on or before October 1, 2003 )
OR for older candidates who completed their first undergraduate degree later than usual
ØNot reached your 27th birthday (must have been born after October
1, 1994 ) AND your first undergraduate degree must have or will be awarded on or after October 1, 2020
• Have completed/will have completed by June/July 2022, an
undergraduate degree from a college or university (normally a Bachelor's degree) to a sufficiently high standard (e.g First Class Honours or Distinction).

• Jurisdictional – eligible in one Rhodes
constituency (e.g., domiciled in Canada)
• Multi-jurisdictional – eligible in more than one constituency
• Inter-jurisdictional – strong connections to two constituencies
• Global - for international students not
eligible to apply in any constituency

• You can apply in either the province where you attend university or in your province of residence
• Must be endorsed through a university
• Allotment of scholarships in Canada:
• Two to Ontario
• Two to Quebec
• Three to Prairies (Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan)
• One to Newfoundland and Labrador
• One to BC

Energy to use your talents to the full (as demonstrated by mastery in areas
such as sports, music, debate, dance, theatre, and artistic pursuits,
including where teamwork is involved)
Truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak,
kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship
Moral force of character and instincts to lead, and to take an interest in your fellow human beings

• Two-page CV
• Personal statement (1000 words max)
• Academic statement (750 words max) ß new!
• Unofficial transcripts from all universities
attended

• Leadership, community, volunteering, and other activities.

• “Should be wholly accurate and a fair representation of
your story, written in your own words and from your own
perspective”
• Address your general interests and activities: Who are
you? What inspires you? What are your passions? What
are you hoping to do in the world?
• Demonstrate why you are a suitable candidate for the
Rhodes scholarship

• Essay style statement not exceeding 750 words.
• Tell us your reasons for wishing to study at Oxford, your first and second choice courses (programs), and why you wish to pursue them.
• Demonstrate that you are able to meet the entry and application requirements of the chosen programs.
• For DPhil applicants, outline your proposed research and future career plans.

• Six referees.
• At least three must be academic referees à must speak to your
academic achievements.
• Two or more referees must speak to your character and/or your
involvement in extracurricular/service or leadership activities.
• Provide a list of referees in your applications.
