Trang 5Class of 2022: Viking Distinguished Graduate Program
● Replacement of Valedictorian/Salutatorian Program from previous years
● Designed to further develop well-rounded students who can become leaders in our community and society
● Students are incentivized, challenged and rewarded in areas outside of academics to earn recognition through the program
Requirements
○ AHD Diploma
○ Application process: preliminary application in Fall/final applications in Spring
○ Rubric based to earn points for each designated area
○ Top 3% of applicants will receive recognition as Distinguished Graduate
○ Next 7% will receive recognition as Commended Graduate

*Grad Pathways is our “Plan B” if your son/daughter hasn’t passed either/both ISTEP tests
3 Categories need to be met:
1 - Earn the credits
2 - Prove employability skills(project,work or service based
learning)
3 - Prove college and career readiness
Your child may be asked to take the ASVAB- don’t panic :)

Every school will have a deadline for applications pay attention to those details!
*Priority deadlines for most colleges is November 1st
*General applications can be finished by March 1 , but it is
always best to turn applications in earlier (higher chance you have of being accepted)

A complete college application includes:
1 - Online application
2 - HS transcript sent through Parchment ( www.parchment.com )
3 - Application fee (not applicable for some schools)
4 - Test scores from entrance exams (SAT & ACT)
5 - Written essays and letters of recommendation (only select schools)

That will take you to the “Parchment” website Go to New Learner Account if you don’t have an account yet
*Account created - Sign in - order a transcript to be sent to yourself or any
college/university you are applying to There is “how to send transcript” on your Class of
2022 Canvas page that will walk you through it if you need help Your Counselor also help you at your meeting with them if you need that.
*Students may request 1 transcript from the guidance office for scholarship purposes

DC Transcripts
IF a student has earned any dual credits in HS, transcripts
must be requested by the student from the institution from
where the DC was earned
● Students will need to request the transcript be sent from
the DC institution to the college of choice for those credits
to apply This will happen in June 2022 Check out
Guidance page for how to get dual credit transcripts.

● Don’t wait until the last minute!!
● Give recommender all of the necessary details!

21st Century Scholars must complete the following to meet eligibility:
1 - Scholar Success Program activities* on Scholartrack at
Scholars.che.in.gov
2 - File your FAFSA Application-may be required to do financial means testing
3 - Meet GPA requirement of 2.5/4.0 equivalent to 6.875 /11.0
4 - Remain true to the pledge you took in 8th grade
5 - Graduate with a Core 40 Diploma

students including college bound students!

2.0 cumulative GPA or higher & on track to meet all graduation requirements
