Summer Intern
About UNH - Environmental Health and Safety
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS) works to assure safe and healthful
environments for all segments of the campus population through programs of information and
education, review and monitoring, technical consultation and provision of direct services OEHS
is also responsible for developing programs to ensure compliance with applicable state and
federal health, safety and environmental regulations, and campus policies on environmental
health and safety

Position: OEHS Summer Intern
Hours Needed: 15 - 30 hours per week

Biological Engineering, Safety Occupational Health Applied Sciences and Chemical
Engineering majors
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Data entry into Microsoft applications and UNHCEMS system as assigned by various
EHS coordinators;
• Autoclave spore testing;
• Delivery of chemicals to campus from Leavitt Lane with University vehicle;
• Chemical inventory responsibilities including verifying chemical inventory in labs and
entering new products to UNHCEMS;
• Update lab signage, as appropriate, and post;
Trang 2• Assist Laboratory Safety Officer, Hazardous Waste Coordinator, and Radiation Safety Officer with program area objectives;
• Fume hood evaluations and testing;
• Miscellaneous lab projects as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
• Proficient in computer based systems, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint);
• Ability to enter and work in a laboratory setting where hazards such as chemical, biological and/or radioactive materials are present;
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, and laboratory coat;
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds;
• Must have valid driver’s license;
• Provide authorization for background check
Upon hiring, the individual must successfully complete the following training (provided by EHS):
• EHS Hazardous Waste Handler training;
• Driver safety training;
• EHS laboratory safety training
• Familiarity with autoclave operation;
• Ability to work independently and as part of group
