Initiation for the KPC Jr Daughters
Anita Grier Court #397
On February 1, 2015, the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary (KPCLA) Anita Grier Court #397 held an initiation for the Jr Daughters at
St Ignatius Loyola Church
The initiation for the Jr Daughters court was a great success Even with the bad weather, ten young ladies were initiated into the newly estab-lished Jr Daughters
The KPC is historically the largest African-American lay organization in the United States established in 1909 The Jr Daughters division was established in 1930 “Our purpose is to render service to God and His
Ho-ly Church, render aid and assistance to the sick and disabled, and promote social and intellectual association among our members.” “Our Junior Di-vision welcomes Catholic youth between the ages of 7-18.”
Immediate Past District Deputy Janice Gray was in attendance and moderated the initiation Two Jr Daughters from Cure d’Ars - Deacon Charles Bright Court #261 - were in attendance also and helped with the initiation
Everything went great Loyola’s young ladies were enthusiastic about having their own court
The served lunch was a big hit and greatly appreciated by the Daugh-ters and their parents A very special thank you went to the senior court members who attended and participated
During the meeting, as an added surprise, the Daughters were wel-comed by the District Level officers from Oklahoma via a telephone call The Officers for the Jr Daughters Anita Grier Court #397 are:
Deborah Price - KPCLA Jr Daughter Counselor Stacy Lindsay-Esnault - KCPLA Assistant Jr Daughter Counselor

Miss Greeley’s Register obituary made it clear she was “remembered by pioneer Catholics as a familiar figure at Old St, Mary’s (DCR 6-13-1918) Julia herself acknowledged Mrs Gilpin’s role in her conversion When someone suggested she ask her employer to leave her some money, she re-plied very simply, “Oh, she gave me sumpin more’n money; she gave me
my faith.”

Trang 4LENT
Lent is an ancient word for springtime; it designates a season of burgeoning inner and outer life Too often lent has been misunderstood as a time of grim repentance, but it is meant to be a time of joy, the joy of a fresh start, the joy that greening meadows and blossoming trees proclaim each spring
The world order in accord with God’s design is only waiting for us to make it a reality here and now
And how do we make God’s design for the world a tangible reality? By
its three dimensions; we become authentic by pulling ourselves together; we
belonging to the universe by sharing with one another; we ground ourselves in
let-ting ourselves down into God’s silence to drink from the fountain of life, the
of our being
Fasting, almsgiving and prayer are the three ways of aligning ourselves and our world with God’s design, the three intersecting pathway into the joy of Lent
The three are inseparably intertwined How could I become authentic unless
I ground myself in God and share? How could I truly share unless I found my authentic Self that is grounded in God? How could I ground myself in God unless I found in God that authentic Self of mine that is one with all and so will joyfully share? These intertwined dimensions help each one of us find our own customized observance of Lent
There is this intimately personal aspect to one’s Lenten commitment, yet it finds expression in public action; the two are as two sides of one coin

Trang 8Mother Theresa’s Do It Anyway
People are often unreasonable, Illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest anyway
What you spent years building
someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway
You see, in the final analysis,
It is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway
