One of the top MBA programs in the nation, the W P Carey Full-time MBA offers core business courses complemented by elective classes and summer

internships As a full-time student, you also complete an

in-depth specialization designed to help focus your studies and enhance your career goals

The Full-time MBA is a two-year program with core business courses taken primarily in the first year Core courses are typically scheduled Monday

through Thursday mornings, with afternoons set aside for meeting with study teams and preparing course assignments Most students enroll in three to five courses at a time

Admission Decision Process

 All application materials must be submitted by specified deadlines to receive an admissions decision by the indicated notification date

 Applications submitted prior to the posted deadlines are encouraged and will receive priority consideration

 Applications will continue to be accepted and considered after published

deadlines on a limited, space available basis

 A complete application includes: online application, essays, resume, application fee, two letters of recommendation, official transcripts, official GMAT score, and TOEFL score if applicable

 Admissions interviews are by invitation based on an initial review of application materials Not all applicants will be interviewed Applicants will be contacted via e-mail should the Admissions Committee wish to extend an invitation to

interview

 If application materials are not postmarked by the indicated date, the application will be sent to the Admissions Committee for review once all materials are received

 You can review your application and materials status online

Applying Early

To ensure that your MBA application experience is the best possible, we suggest you apply prior to posted deadlines Applying early:

Allows you to complete your GMAT exam within your desired admissions deadline

Ensures the best chance at securing your seat in the MBA program

Provides time for the Office of Admissions to conduct a preliminary review

of your application and recommend potential enhancements before the Admissions Committee conducts its final review

III.ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

W P Carey MBA students have varying backgrounds and experiences The Admissions Committee prefers to review the different elements of your application to arrive at a recommendation The committee considers your resume, work experience, essays, academic transcript, GMAT score, letters of recommendation and interview You are encouraged to provide depth to your application through responses to the three essay questions

Application files generally are reviewed by the Admissions Committee within two weeks of their completion, the admissions interview or notification date,

whichever is later You can review the status of your application and the receipt of materials

The minimum requirement for admission to the W P Carey MBA Program is a four-year bachelor's degree or the equivalent of a U.S four-year degree Three-year bachelor's degrees are not considered equivalent

Evaluation Criteria

Applications reviewed by the Admissions Committee may be considered more competitive if they are consistent with the class profile Among the areas considered:

 Exemplary interview

 Years of professional work experience consistent with class averages

 An undergraduate GPA near the class average

 Previous coursework in business or business-related disciplines such as accounting, economics, finance or statistics

A TOEFL score above 100 (iBT)

 A GMAT score near or above the class average

Not Required For Admission

The following items are not required for admission to the program:

 An undergraduate degree in business or a business-related discipline

 Previous coursework in math or statistics

Eligible Transcripts

To be eligible for admission to graduate studies, transcripts should reflect the following:

 U.S bachelor's degree or the equivalent from a regionally accredited

institution A bachelor's degree in the U.S is a four-year degree that follows

12 years of primary and secondary school work International applicants should review information regarding international degrees

 Equivalent to a B grade point average in the last 60 semester hours or 90

quarter hours of undergraduate coursework is preferred.

GMAT/GRE Information

If you have already taken the GRE, your scores will be considered for admission; however, if you have not taken an entrance exam, you are strongly advised to take

the GMAT Please contact your admissions representative for more information TOEFL

Most international applicants will be required to submit evidence of English proficiency, particularly if English is not your first language The W P Carey MBA standards regarding English proficiency requirements are stricter than ASU Graduate College standards Acceptable scores on the TOEFL or IELTS:

 The average TOEFL score for those typically accepted to the W P Carey MBA is 613 (PBT) or 103 (iBT)

 The ASU minimum TOEFL requirement is 550 (PBT) or 80 (iBT)

 The ASU minimum IELTS is an overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band below a 6.0

Prior College Studies

Applicants who have met one of the following conditions at a regionally

accredited college or university in the United States do not need to submit evidence of English proficiency:

Earned a bachelor's degree or higher, OR

Completed a minimum of 12 semester hours of graduate-level study with a GPA of 3.00 or higher, OR

Completed at least 90 undergraduate semester credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher, OR

Completed the American English and Culture Program Advanced Level II and have the recommendation of the program director

Test Information

TOEFL, PTE and IELTS scores are valid when the test date is within two years

of the first day of classes in the semester you are applying for at ASU Applications will not be processed without valid evidence of English proficiency

Recommendations - Sources of Recommendations

Individuals providing recommendations should be able to speak to your personal qualities, career focus and potential for success in the graduate business classroom They should know you personally and be familiar with your career history,

credentials, leadership strengths and professional aspirations Potential sources for

Business suppliers

Customers

Internship supervisors

Professional organization representatives

Recommendations from family or personal friends are generally inappropriate Recommendations from previous academic professors, volunteer site supervisors or organizational advisors are acceptable but should be complemented by a professional recommendation

At least two years of professional work experience is required for admission to

the W P Carey MBA Program Applicants with non-traditional work experience or who had full-time work experience while attending undergraduate studies should provide additional explanation in Essay 3

B Part Two

Transcripts & GPAs

Transcripts should be submitted, from all academic institutions where an

undergraduate or graduate degree was conferred, to the ASU Graduate

College for verification

You can request that your transcripts be sent directly from each undergraduate institution or you may collect them and forward them to ASU at one time Each transcript you submit must be in a sealed envelope from the original institution Please inquire if your previous institutions can include your Document

Reference Number on each transcript This information is used for

authentication and matching purposes only A Supplemental Document Cover

Sheet is provided for your convenience but not required.

Transcripts from community colleges, transfer credits and advanced college credit courses also should be submitted

The Admissions Committee will review transcripts and GPAs and incorporate information such as major and institution attended as part of the evaluation process Post-baccalaureate coursework at the community college, undergraduate

or graduate level may be used to enhance a lower undergraduate GPA If you are concerned about your past academic performance, you may use the third essay question in the online application to provide the Admissions Committee with additional information about your GPA Personal, academic or financial

constraints that may have impacted your academic performance should be

addressed

Test Requirements: GMAT, GRE and TOEFL

Submission of GMAT Scores

You will be asked to report both the score number and percentile obtained for the verbal, quantitative and analytical section of the GMAT during the online

application process if you already have taken the test.

Applicants with future test dates or those who have not taken the test should leave this section blank and provide the planned test date in Essay No 3 Applicants with multiple test scores should list the highest GMAT results

If you are attempting to meet a specific W P Carey MBA application

submission deadline, the test should be taken no later than two weeks prior to that date ASU receives official test scores two weeks after the test date ASU's

GMAT institutional code for the W P Carey MBA is 0GZ-1R-80.

The official GMAT score must be forwarded to the W P Carey MBA by PearsonVUE Test scores must be received directly from the agency

administering the test Photocopies are not accepted

Retaking the GMAT

If you decide to retake the GMAT, or if the Admissions Committee requests that you take it again, please notify us by e-mail of your new test date

Upon your request, an application will be re-evaluated based on the new GMAT scores Denied applicants must reapply with new GMAT scores if seeking admission for the same academic start date

TOEFL, PTE or IELTS Scores

For TOEFL, ASU's institutional code is 4007 There is no institution code needed for IELTS or PTE

Online Letters of Recommendation

The W P Carey MBA application requires that you submit the name, company and email address of two individuals that will serve as your recommenders Each recommender will be required to complete an online recommendation form as part of your application

Once you submit the online application, the University will automatically send

an e-mail message to the recommenders with instructions and a web link to complete the online form If your recommender is not able to submit the form

online, we can accept a hardcopy letter of recommendation Please mail letter(s) with your official transcripts and the Supplemental Document Cover Sheet to the ASU Graduate College

Recommenders will be asked to respond to the following questions:

1 Describe your professional relationship to the applicant

2 Describe any professional abilities or interpersonal skills with make this applicant effective in the work environment Provide specific examples where you have observed these skills demonstrated

3 Describe any unique characteristics this applicant demonstrates

4 Please comment on your assessment of how obtaining an MBA can fit into

this applicant's career goals and aspirations.

5 How would this applicant's qualifications assist him/her in completing graduate business coursework in a rigorous, team-based environment?

6 What additional comments would you like to bring to the attention of the Admission Committee regarding this applicant's candidacy?

Hardcopy Letters of Recommendation

Should your recommender be unable to submit an electronic recommendation

on your behalf, a printed letter, provided on company stationery, can be

accepted Please forward the letter(s) to the ASU Graduate College in a

complete package with your official transcripts and the Supplemental Document Cover Sheet

If you are sending a physical letter of recommendation, please complete the supplemental section on the online application with First Name = "Hard," Last Name = "Copy," and Institution/Company Affiliation = "Letters." List the first e-mail address for recommenders submitting hard copy letters

Official Academic Credentials

To process your application, all international records must be submitted in the

original language accompanied by an official English translation Translations

must be literal, complete versions of original records, and the documents must be translated by a university, a government official, or an official translation service You cannot do your own translation

If your institution does not evaluate students on grades, but on periodic

examinations, you will need to provide transcripts with the results of these

examinations If your institution provides annual mark sheets, all mark sheets must be submitted not just those for the final examination

Along with your coursework, your degree must be verified with a diploma or degree certificate We require official copies from the awarding institution with the

date the degree was conferred These must be accompanied with official translations Official academic credentials are issued by the registrar of the institution

attended, bearing the seal of the institution and registrar’s or academic official’s signature

 Verified true copies of credentials by a responsible official of the institution or educational representative of the country’s government or embassy Each page must bear the verifying official signature and stamp

 Certified copies by a recognized international education organization, such as U.S Education Foundation, AMIDEAST, or the Institute for International Education

English Proficiency

If you are from a country whose native language is not English, you must

provide proof of English proficiency Acceptable proof is as follows:

 TOEFL score of at least 550 (PBT) or 80 (iBT)

 IELTS overall band score of at least 6.5 with no band below 6.0

 Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of at least 60

Individual academic units may have higher requirements for English proficiency Please consult your department’s website

You could qualify for an exemption from this requirement if you have attended a regionally accredited college/university in the United States and meet one of the following conditions:
