2012 School Board Candidates:
Carole Henry
I have lived in the Mohawk School District for thirty-six years I worked at Antelope Union High School for twenty-five years as the principal’s secretary My children attended Mohawk Valley School as did three of
my grandchildren I was active in many aspects of Mohawk School as a parent and volunteer Mohawk School has always been a school we as a community can be proud of There are many caring teachers who have devoted many years to our children I would like a position on the Board because I think my experience as a high school office employee would present another view to the make-up of the Board I would appreciate your vote

In running for re-election to the Mohawk Valley School Board I am reaffirming my commitment to serve
my community, its students and the staff of our school My qualifications are that of many years of varied community service as well as a total of 8 years of service to the Mohawk Valley School Board
Having lived in the Mohawk Valley for over 25 years and owning a business in our community I feel that I have an understanding of our people and our business community My husband David and I have raised our three sons in the area and they have all gone on to graduate from the University of Arizona Much of the success of our family has come from living within our close-knit and supportive community
Our school faces many challenges as we go forward Declining enrollment and decreased funding will continue to be the major concerns of our district We have made many changes in recent years to become more efficient Our Administration and staff has tapped into several Grants which have enabled
us to give to our students the best possible education Our current Administration has also made many positive updates and improvements to our campus
I am very proud of the teamwork and unity that our school board has Our board works professionally together to serve the needs of our community I look forward to continuing the programs and progress that has been made and feel very confident that we will continue in a positive direction going forward

In running for re-election for the Mohawk Valley School District Governing Board, it is my hope that I may continue to build on the legal training and hands-on experience I have gained since beginning my school board service in 2006 In my desire to serve my community on the school board, I bring several perspectives to the table
As a teacher who has been involved in both public and private education for 39 years, I have seen firsthand the changes that have affected local school district through ever-increasing federal mandates and involvement Now, more than ever, a strong commitment to local control in crucial to the success of our students
As a taxpayer, I expect a high level of accountability and fiscal responsibility from the local education leadership In these challenging economic times, care must be taken to operate within budget
constraints without sacrificing the quality education that our students deserve
As a naturalized citizen and a student of the Constitution, I appreciate and understand this nation’s unprecedented freedoms The natural response for me personally is to acknowledge and safeguard those freedoms in the way that I know best, through the local school system Our founders understood that only a literate citizenry could maintain a free society
We at Mohawk Valley are fortunate that our administrative leadership along with our exceptional staff and dedicated parents have set a high level of expectation for our students In these very challenging times, I desire to continue to be a part of the strong local commitment to provide our children and youth with the very best opportunities to succeed and excel
