Greetings! I want to introduce you to Onondaga Community Living, Inc (OCL)
We have been helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1987
We currently provide support to individuals in Onondaga and surrounding counties We help people one person at a time!
We help people with community habilitation, community-based prevocational training, employment training program, pathways to employment, ongoing job coaching support, volunteering, college education at Syracuse University and so much more!
We would like to tell you more about our community-based prevocational
training services
• We partner with area businesses to provide real learning and workplace
experiences to help prepare an individual with a disability for paid employment or unpaid meaningful community activities The focus of our services is to help an individual who may have never held job to learn how to be productive at work, how
to interact with others, how to problem solve, how to ask for help, etc We don’t focus on completing a specific quantity of work
• There is no cost to you as the employer as these are unpaid work experiences
and follow DOL regulations (the work experience is not intended to substantially benefit your business, the work experience cannot take a position away from one of your paid employees and the work experience doesn’t exceed 5 hours for vocational exploration, 90 hours for vocational assessment or 120 hours for vocational
training)
• We provide a paid staff person from OCL to assist the person while at your business The OCL staff person is trained on working with individuals with
disabilities The OCL staff person has passed background checks to include
fingerprinting and DMV checks
• We will provide you with a copy of proof of our worker’s compensation and our liability insurance We can list you as additional insured on the certificate of
liability insurance and provide you a copy at your request
• We can discuss possibilities of what this service might look like It could just
be a tour of your facility or a day of shadowing your staff to explore what a job looks like or it could be something more extensive up to 120 hours We know you are busy so it could be something like three hours a day once or twice a week We are flexible!!
