Children will also benefit from finding animals and spotting amusing happenings on their own Discovering the joy of an absorbing book

is a wonderful and important part of learning to read.

To get the most out of this book:

• Talk about the pages together, encouraging your child to use interesting words to describe the different scenes.

• Talk about looking for the animals along the top of each page, perhaps taking a page each to search Touch each animal as you count them.

• Describe where each animal is using words such as behind, in front of, between, etc Discuss the colors and patterns you can see.

• Play I-spy Can you find an animal whose name begins with an “s”?

• Encourage your child to think about what it would be like to be in each place You could ask, “What would you hear on the farm?”

• Look at the pictures and discuss what the animals and children might be thinking Make up stories about what is going on.
