Trang 21 Background
One of the factors that determine a successful life is learning According to Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, one of the greatest philosopher and politician, learning is the work
of a lifetime, “Study, study more, study forever” It's a proper thought, always trendy Humans are given the ability to acquire knowledge limitless, so people should not waste it! Learning can be everywhere, everything can be learned; learn from theory to practice, learn from school to reality life
To study hard is good, but the study methods, the fastest way to learn, achieve the best results is the most important In Vietnam, why so many people have a university degree but still unemployed? Why they still only employees with lowkwages? Why some others do not have thepcollege degree but earn more money than someipeople do have? Good study method is the big impact, to have a better life, and study quicker This assignment will find out which study method is the good one for IBD students
2 Rationale
Learning styles haveobeen investigated in many countries, such as in the United States, Spain, the Philippines, Korea, and more recently in Malaysia However, the scarcity of studies in the dominant of learning styles and academic achievement in Vietnam in general and in National Economic Universityo(IBD) in particular becomes the great motivation for accomplishing this proposed research
3 Research Questions
a What is thepdominant learning stylefamong students of IBD at National Economics University?
b Is there a significantmdifference in academic performancepamong students
of IBD at National Economics University applyingpdifferent learning styles?
c Is there a significant relationship between learning styleppreferences and the academic achievement among thepstudents of IBD at NationalpEconomics University?
Trang 34 Methodology
In order to answer those above questions, we would use two methods: Interview and questionnaire
5 Scope
Due to the limits of time and budget, osome of the aspects will be covered We will study generallyiabout learning style within students of Intake 13 of IBDuand the specific
effects of those learning styles which differentiatespstudents via their academic
performance
6 Research method
Data were collected byohanding out questionnaires developed by the researchers
In order to generate participant’s willingness to do get involve in the research,
questionnaire ispdesigned some critical questions Alcorrelation analysis was used to determine the relationship between their learningpstyle preferences and academic
achievement.pSome research tools will also beoutilized in this research namely

Trang 4LITERATURE REVIEW
1 Definition of Learning method/Learning style:
Learning method can be defined as the easiest and the most natural way to receive knowledge and it need to be congruous for each person However, some popular researchers had a lot of different ideas about how to define what learning method is
According to Richard Felder and Linda Silverman (1988), learning style is “an individual’s preferred way of acquiring, retaining and processing information” Lightbown (2005) defined learning method as “characteristic cognitive, affective and physiological behaviors that serve as relatively stable indicators of how learners perceive, interact with and respond to the learning environment” These variations in the definition of learning style can be understanded because I aim to reflect the prospect of inventory of different learning styles
2 Models of Learning styles:
Learning style models refer to the diverse styles of learners to use for the purpose of achieving knowledge Learning style models to describe the extent of learning methods used by individuals in learning the topic or different topics
Cannot deny that different students have their own ways to learn the best and although there is a lot of research on learning styles, broad agreement is to reach out to researchers
in this matter Disagreement, however, was the overwhelming agreement within the classification of the learning style If a system of classification is defined broadly, the new issue will appear Due to the fact that the process of allocating the learning styles of students depends in part on the research subjects as well as the conditions of the study, classification systems can reduce the accuracy in determining a student's learning style
Trang 53 The VARK Model:
There are a lot of Learning style models, but VARK is one of the most popular, is considered one of the classic learning theories in the field of education “Neil Fleming's VARK model expanded upon earlier notions of sensory modalities such as the VAK model of Barbe and colleagues and the representational systems (VAKOG) in neuro-linguistic programming” VARK shows learning method in 4 aspects, V (Visual), A (Auditory), R (Reading and writing) and K (Kinesthetic)
- Visual: Visual learners prefer observe The easiest information for them to learn is paragraphs, images, charts, etc However, movement and action may easily distract them, while they are not bothered by noise They can improve their imagination so quickly, become more and more creative
- Auditory: They can ameliorate their memory by listening to the CDs, recordings and audio files several times, teach others or discussions with friends or chat with foreign people
Students belonging to this method of learning styles through listening They have a lot more attention to the lectures offered by the teachers rather than writing notes Then, the topic would be discussed with classmates to help them to improve their knowledge Aural language learners tend to be interrupted by the noise
- Reading and writing: Students following to this method of learning style prefer to read documents, textbooks, lists, etc to collect information, take note to keep their memory working
- Kinesthetic: Doing, touching, moving is the best way for kinesthetic leaners study They usually full of energy, prefer doing, working than any others method Experiencing every single work is good, but they are too passive in class Students who follow this method don’t like others methods, obviously

Trang 6RESULT AND DISCUSSIONS
1 Do you think studying is important?
2 Do you think learning method is important?
Trang 7According to researchers from the Introduction, a good way to study is necessary, and it will decide each person result The better way to study, the better marks you have, and also the quicker you learn Two chart 1 and 2 show how important study is and also their opinion about learning method Most people thought that study is important, but a lot
of people (43%) thought that maybe the learning method is important, maybe not; and still have 6.7% number of people didn’t care about the way they study
3 How much time do you spend on studying everyday?
6
TIEU LUAN MOI download : skknchat@gmail.com
Trang 8Time is just one of the aspects to decide the way they study The average time to learn some new knowledge, do homework and review is about 1 hour to 3 hours It depends on the amount of knowledge you want to learn, or homework you need to do Most of people study in average time (1 hour – 3 hours), usually at night (70%) About 23.3% number of people think that spending less than 1 hour is the best to study, and only 3.3% think that they don’t need to study at home On the other hand, only 3.3% decide to study more than 3 hours, what a hard working More time to study is good, but if you study to much, you won’t have time to do others things, and your mind will also be tired easily
4 On class: What kind of learning methods are you mainly approached?
Trang 9Vietnamese students get used to study traditional way – listen to their lecture then write down everything the lecture said So no surprise, most students - 40% number of students prefer listen to understand But some people cannot imagine all of the number neither information They prefer to see real things, charts and pictures That is the reason why 30% number of students choose to see, to observe, so they don’t need to use their imagination too much On the other hand, some students (20%) want to work by themselves, touch some samples to understand how it worked Very few people left choose the reading as an effective learning tool, only 10%
5 Self-study: Which learning methods would be effective and time saving?
8
TIEU LUAN MOI download : skknchat@gmail.com
Trang 10The majority of students choose drawing charts, and mind mapping (36.7%) But with the growth of social networks, then the students gradually use more references, with 26.7% Part-time job now is a trend that helps you just learning by doing, should have to take 20 percent of the students choose this approach This is also the familiar form, but also caused much controversy Along with that is the development of technology, you need to record lectures of the teachers become the trend (16.7%)
6 Factors that cause you to lose focus when learning?
Trang 11Noise is the basic cause cause distraction, and the majority of people affected by this factor In addition, the pressure of time also makes students become lack of focus, deadlines become invisible barrier (43.3%) The number of people think that no space and lack chart illustrates is equal, about 20%
7 Which aspect affect the way you study the most?
The students love is easy to understand, and it more or less affect study results The majority of the students are affected by love, about 50% Also including financial difficulties, as well as difficulties in the timeline of the student to go to work (both of them are 20%) A small section remains for that, health factors affected too negatively to learning

Trang 121 Summary of the research
The best thing of this studyPis to highlight the effectivenesspof learning learning style performance Dependingmon theuindividual and knowledge absorption properties of different objects, the people will choose the appropriate method tofsupport the process of theirplearning
Despite the fact thatithere are many learning styles models in the literature, this research is applied VARK models due to itsicom[ CITATION Glo13 \l 1033 ] [ CITATION Mar16 \l 1033 ]ppatibility to the purposes and objects of this research which are dedicated to the merit of Intake 13 IBD students at NationaloEconomicsiUniversity (NEU) VARK models includes 4 distinctive learning stylesunamelyfVisual (V);iAuditory (A);oReading (R) anduKinesthetic (K) By mean of a correlation analysis, the relationshipKbetween learning styles and students academic performance is determined It
is clearly revealed that if the students’ study methods on class and at homeiare the same, theirSscores are evidently higher than those who find their learning styles different from study methods that they are approached on class In other words, learning styles significantly affect students’ academic performance Also, the study indicates that
“reading” learning style predominate over the three other styles If other exogenouspelements (part-time jobs;phealth conditions…) is exclusive, learning style can dramatically affect the academic performance It is strongly recommended that the learners should beoflexible to combine or utilize their own appropriate learning styles to gain the optimal results
In conclusion, all the researchjquestions are answeredpand the aims of the study have been achieved which can be of thepgreat help to Intake 13 IBD students at National Economics University
Trang 132 Suggestion for IBD students
After examining the research, we found out the importance of learning styles toward Intake 13 IBD@NEU students It cannot be denied that they much affected learnersoacademic performances Somepprograms shouldobe designed to improve their learning methodspand learning strategies for all levels to make theflearning process more effective
The students should be properly guided and given incentives to select individual learning style that best suit them to achieve their personal academic objectives Teachers also need to change the teaching styles in order to meet the subjects’ demand and help students revise in the most effectiveyway Otherufurther researches should focus on examining someyteaching styles corresponding with students’ learning styles and find out whether it brings aypositive result with anoappropriate combination
Therefore, finding an effective learningfmethod for these subjects is necessary Other researchers shouldiconsider these suggestions above in order tofimprove learners' study results
