Introduction
My website, www.ianrodwell-limited.com launched on 01 February 2012 (1-2-12), although I did a couple of “trial” blog posts before this I passionately want to help people live much more fulfilling working lives I want them to get out of the bed in the morning enthused and fired up ready to enjoy their working day and have fun I call this state “Working Wow!” and I have been enjoying this working life experience for years now I want to share it with you
As many of you may know, getting a website set up takes a bit of knowledge
to do, you need to spend a little cash and get a little help I knew nothing on
07 November 2011 on how to do this but I got it up and running by 01 February 2012, the date I had set myself Thanks in no small part to Chris Farrell
However, the next task is to drive traffic to your website I got some help from the teachings of the wonderful Kim Roach
Part of my training prior to Chris Farrell was to get a blog up and running through the free programme called Blogger (go to www.blogger.com) and I set up a blog initially around 2008 called “Rod the Blog” where I initially started to put in posts about my life If I recall correctly I only posted about four posts and I did not really know what I was doing One of the posts recounted how I had Christmas lunch one year in Dubai with the ex-Manchester United football Denis Irwin I thought that would draw in the crowds It didn’t
My interest was reawakened in the blogging world one day when I was just mooching around the internet I found some videos on You Tube and a great guy who had a website called Recognized Expert hosted by a nice chap called Bob Sommers I went over to the website and just for signing up I got access to 118 videos about Blogger These were all pretty short, about 5 minute duration and I lapped them up each lunchtime on the laptop
With a few days I decided I had learned enough to revamp and reinvigorate
my blog to one about book reviews Hence Rod the Blog became a book review website and I concentrated on my favourite authors
Trang 3One of these favourite authors is Harlan Coben I kept seeing Harlan’s name keep cropping up in other people’s forums (particularly Michael Connelly’s) and I decided to check his novels out I really loved the humour and I soon became hooked on the Myron Bolitar novels and the characters in them too Eccentric but very well plotted and written
I soon read my way through all of his novels and of course I added my reviews of his novels to Rod the Blog You will certainly enjoy reading the Harlan Coben novels that is for sure, and he would be in my Top 10 authors too
As I said at the start of this introduction, I am now the proud owner of a fully-fledged website that promotes my Working Wow message As a consequence of this website taking up most of my spare time, I have sadly abandoned Rod the Blog pretty much However I thought it a shame just to let the book reviews just sit there gathering internet dust Therefore I have combined these reviews into EBooks that I will use to publicise my website
Therefore I would ask that you help me to publicise my website by telling anyone who you think would be interested in the reviews or would like to learn how to have an enhanced Working Wow life
Thank you all so much for your support

Trang 5Recommended author Harlan Coben on Rod The Blog
I am about halfway through reading the novels of Harlan Coben I found it a little hard to get into the first Myron Bolitar one but now I am hooked I read these in paperback or on Kindle on the computer
I can now highly recommend these novels They are thriller mystery novels that are often funny and addictive The Myron Bolitar ones (there are nine published so far) are great, you really get into the characters and the off the wall humour
As I am English and not from the USA I am also getting to understand a bit about American culture such as Yoo Hoo etc.!!!!
Worth reading if you like thriller or mystery books

This is Harlan Coben's first published novel so you have to give a little leeway here! If you want to read all of his novels then you are going to read it anyway As a novel it is not great but it is nice to see how much someone learns as Harlan Coben very soon becomes a good then a great writer with later novels
Having written that it is a readable novel and the plot is a trifle implausible but you can identify with the characters and appreciate the story as it unfolds The world of basketball is well portrayed (I think!) and the dynamics of the Baskin’s marriage and Laura's career too is interesting
Only a 5/10 for this one for me
Miracle Cure (1991)
Click On Book Image to purchase your copy of the book
This is one of the early Harlan Coben novels and he makes excuses for it in his introduction This is a little unfair as it is quite readable if not as good as his Myron Bolitar novels etc I read it in three days so that is a pretty good sign that it is OK However, having written that it is really only a novel for the people (like me) who want to read all of Harlan Coben's novels
The book is set in the medical world and the thirst for research dollars and the conflicts that exist there The characters are likeable and fairly real The plot is reasonably good and the pages for me kept turning relatively quickly
Trang 7The fun part of the novel for me was that as it was written in the early 1990's the perception of AIDs was really quite strange looking at it now from 20 years later The gay tag has definitely gone from this subject Also the lack of mobile phones and the use of pagers for me was a fairly short lived era
6/10 for me
Deal Breaker (1995)

Myron Bolitar 1
Was so glad that I stumbled upon Harlan Coben novels and the Myron Bolitar series in particular Read one of the stand-alone novels first and then moved
on to read about Myron People say you should never judge a book by its cover but I did with Harlan Coben and I am very glad that ignored this old saying
Myron is a Sports Representative and when Myron's prize client gets a phone call from his girlfriend who everyone thinks is dead, his dealings with his star start to go off track Myron tries to investigate this sudden reappearance of the girlfriend and strays into the dark side of the sports world Sex, blackmail and a family tragedy are all in play Lies and half-truths keep the plot boiling
A good start to the series to get you hooked 8/10

His strange friend Win turns up out of the blue and informs him that Esperanza (his business partner) has been accused of murdering one of their clients Esperanza does not tell Myron what has happened and he has to find out for himself
Trang 11Why did a washed up pitcher get a place with the New York Yankees? What happened twelve years ago in Myron's past that has now come back to haunt him?
A strain on relations with Esperanza, how does Myron smooth this out and right their worlds? Well, you need to read the novel to find out

This is an excellent book (as usual) from Harlan Coben You feel for the main character Marc as he recovers from a shooting where his wife was killed and his baby daughter goes missing Handovers of ransom money go wrong, and
he becomes the chief suspect
Two really nasty psychotics are the abductors Coben adds to the pot by introducing Marc's helper from the FBI called Rachel who has issues of her own She too brings some enemies with her as well
Fantastic stuff 8/10
Just One Look (2004)
Click On Book Image to purchase your copy of the book
I really enjoyed reading this novel on my Kindle A stand-alone book of Harlan Coben's and not one of the Myron Bolitar series
A mystery where a photograph from the past, people leaving prison and other events start a chain of events in people's lives in the present The mystery is kept under wraps right to the end, with several twists and turns on the way
Found the chief hitman, Mr Wu, particularly sinister
A good stand-alone novel and I would give this 8/10
Trang 14The Innocent (2005)

However, all is not what it appears with his wife She is pulled back into her past life Will Matt and Olivia survive all the challenges that they are subjected to? Who are the good guys? Will good triumph over evil?
I really enjoyed this novel, 9/10 from me
Promise Me (2006)

Myron Bolitar book 8
The Myron Bolitar series are my favourite books of the moment, although the Harlan Coben stand-alone novels are generally great too
This novel comes after quite a gap in time since the book 7, six years in fact
In the interim Myron appears to have had a quiet life doing his day job of Sports Rep
This all changes in this great novel He tries to protect a friend's daughter by offering her a lift home to shield her from abductors and drunk drivers He is persuaded not to drop her back at her parents but at another address
