‘Prior to commencing the MBA at QUT I put a lot of emphasis on developing myself as a leader But what I learned

through the program and by reflecting during my studies were the gains that could be made by developing the

people around me and not just myself

My career has advanced dramatically since completing the MBA and part of that is because of the confidence

I have within myself, the understanding and clarity of what I want to do and how I can create value for the

businesses I work in.’

Coursework programs – MBA

QUT’s Executive MBA (EMBA) is designed to take experienced managers to new levels as highly skilled leaders

The concept of ‘knowing one’s self’ lies at the forefront of the program, facilitating the development of a deep understanding of personal goals and leadership traits

In addition to self-realisation, strategy, decision making and leadership, the unique model for our EMBA program integrates fundamental units with more advanced elements that include organisational transformation, entrepreneurship, governance and corporate accountability The program culminates in an international study tour to China, honing your abilities to meet the demands of a quickly changing globalised society During the tour, you will learn the intricacies of negotiating and conducting business in a foreign country and applying commercial expertise in a vastly different culture

Additionally, the program offers leadership coaches who will help individual students establish clear goals for both their chosen career paths and personal lives

Through the EMBA’s emphasis on corporate governance and leadership, you will undertake a leadership practicum by shadowing a senior executive from industry, commerce or government and experience first-hand how leadership issues are handled at executive level in the real world

Course design

The EMBA program commences in late January or early February each year Classes are scheduled once every four weeks over a Friday to Sunday session with 18–21 hours of classes per weekend session, plus one intensive session (international study tour) The intensive block sessions allow students to schedule dedicated time to study around demanding business commitments

Students undertake 24 six-credit-point units which incorporate the core units of the MBA program with eight units designed specifically to focus on self-realisation, leadership and decision making, organisational transformation and corporate accountability
