Measures for protection against hazards arising during inspection, maintenance and cleaning

Một phần của tài liệu Bsi bs en 00620 2002 + a1 2010 (Trang 44 - 48)

The equipment shall be designed so that, as far as possible, adjustment, lubrication, inspection, cleaning and maintenance may be performed outside danger areas in accordance with 5.1.4.1.

Where it is necessary to remove safeguards, for the performance of maintenance, repair inspection, or cleaning work, then measures shall be provided for the protection of the personnel, in the resulting danger areas. These measures shall be effective on units being repaired or maintained and also on other parts of the system which may be in operation.

Such measures shall be one, or a combination of the following, or measures giving equivalent levels of safety:

 isolation and/or energy dissipation device(s) for part(s) or for the complete system ;

 hold to run devices ;

 speed reduction devices ;

 limited movement control devices ;

 creation of maintenance or repair islands by protective means, e.g. providing temporary fencing or barriers.

(See also 5.1.6, slip, trip and fall hazards.).

 If, for technical reasons, maintenance work cannot be carried out with the conveyor at a standstill, then safety measures shall be taken. These may include the installation of :

 systems for reducing the speed ;

 systems for controlling the amplitude and number of movements ;

 anti-run-back devices.

6 Verification of safety and EMC requirements and/or measures

6.1 Safety requirements and/or measures of clauses 5 and 7 of this standard shall be verified according to Table 2 below, which covers:

 Type verification, i.e. verification of the machine type, the intention of which being to ensure that the type of machine complies with the requirements of this standard (The first section of Table 2) ;

 Individual verification, i.e. verification of each machine put on the market, the intention of which being to establish that, before despatch, each machine satisfies all the safety requirements of this standard (The second section of Table 2). Where the machine is assembled on site, the part of the verification that cannot be made before despatch shall be carried out at the place of use.

The following methods of verification are included in Table 2:

a) visual check: the intention of which only being to establish by visual examination whether something is present on the machine, system or component (e.g. guarding, visual warning device, marking), or that documents and drawings provided are adequate to meet the requirements of this standard (symbol “V” in Table 2) ;

b) measurement: the intention of which being to establish by measurement whether the stated measurable parameters have been met (e.g. geometric dimensions, safety distances, isolation resistance of electric circuits, noise, vibration) and comply with the requirements of this standard (symbol “M” in Table 2) ;

c) Test(s)

i) functional test: the intention of which being to establish by an unloaded test whether, in an unloaded working operation, normal cycle or part of a cycle, the machine, including all safety devices, works as intended and all functions comply with the requirements of this standard and with the technical documentation (symbol “FT” in Table 2) ;

ii) loaded test(s): tests outside the range of functional tests, the intention of which being to establish by loaded operation those aspects that can not be established by the functional test, e.g. strength and/or stability and that all safety devices and their adjustments, are adequate and the result of their actuation is in accordance with the requirements of this standard (symbol “LT” in Table 2) ;

iii) specific verification/ measurements (e.g. Electrical, EMC, Fire/Explosion risk): the intention of which being to establish by specific verification, test or measurement whether stated parameters comply with the requirements of this standard (e.g. compliance with electrical standards) (symbol “SV” in Table 2).
