4.4. EFL students’ perceptions of the advantages of online English language learning.

In the fourth part of the questionnaire, the teachers were asked to respond to a list of the advantages of online English language learning. The information on the perceptions of the advantages of online English language learning is presented in Table 4.4.

As can be seen in Table 4.4, there are three items with 12 statements.

Obviously, EFL students’ perceptions of the advantages of online English language learning. Based on the table above, it can be seen that in the first statement, the answers are in strong disagree (D) with a total of 11 students or with a presentation of 6.7%, then the answer disagrees (D) has a presentation of 2.4%, neutral (N) has a respondent with the presentation of 18.2%, agree (A) has a respondent with the presentation of 60.0%. Furthermore, for the answer of strong agree (SA), 21 respondents have a presentation of 12.7 %. On average the mean for this statement is 3.96. From these results, it can be concluded that the teachers answered agree and strong agree statements with the presentation of 72.7%. This answer also supported by the statement of the S1, Students can improve their ability to use technology devices through online English learning.

As the following statement said by S1:

Yes, I can improve my ability to use technology devices through online

English learning. Online English learning will help me get better at using technology. It's no secret that technology now plays a bigger role in our daily lives than it ever has. It benefits us in every area of our lives, from social interaction and creativity to physical health and fitness. (S1)

The second statement the answer is in strong disagree (SD) which has 11 respondents with a presentation of 6.7% and disagree (D) as much as 13.3%.

Furthermore, the answer of neutral (N) has 32 respondents with a presentation of 19.4%, the answer of agree (A) has a percentage of 44.8% or 74 respondents, the answer for strongly agree (SA) has a presentation of 15.8%. On average the mean for this statement is 3.49. Therefore, from the result, it may be concluded that respondents agreed with statement 2. This statement is also supported by the interview with S2 as follows:

Yes, I have flexible communication options when learning English online with my friends and tutors. Students who take online courses benefit from flexible scheduling and less expensive learning. I can pick up their desired courses and disciplines at my convenient time. This presents me with a wonderful opportunity to develop new talents and raise my level of knowledge while being at home. (S2)

In the third statement, the answer is in strong disagree (SD) which has 14 respondents with a presentation of 8.5%, for the answer of disagree (D) has a percentage of 15.2%. Furthermore, the answer for neutral (N) has 31 respondents with a presentation of 18.8%, the answer for agree (A) has 74 respondents with a presentation of 44.8%, and strongly disagree (SA) has a presentation of 12.7%.

Therefore, from the result it can be concluded that 57.5% respondents agree the statement 3. On average the mean for this statement is 3.10. This result also supported by the interview with S3 as follows:

I don't find it difficult to use technological tools to study English online.

Due to the abundance of helpful learning programs on smartphones, laptops, tablets, and other media players including dictionaries, spelling checkers, translation tools, and other apps, current technology tools help me do better in my studies. These apps don't bore users; instead, they entertain them with engaging materials, humorous ways, and colorfully designed courses. Additionally, as long as my gadgets are online, I may study whenever and wherever I want. (S3)

In the fourth statement, the most answer in disagree (D) which has 13 respondents with a presentation of 7.9%, for the answer of strongly agree (SA) has a percentage of 5.4%. Furthermore, the answer of agree (A) has 96 respondents with a presentation of 58.2%, the answer for agree (D) and strongly disagree (SD) has a presentation of 8.5%, and the answer of neutral (N) has 33 respondents with the presentation of 20.0%. On average the mean for this statement is 2.76. This result also supported by the interview with the S4 as follows:

No, I do not believe that online English language instruction is more successful than in-person instruction. Face-to-face instruction still necessitates self-discipline because attendance and participation are still expected of students. In a situation like this, face-to-face instruction is definitely an option. We will need to adjust to online learning as students.

No, sometimes the teacher didn’t give me the answer I wanted. I found myself turning in assignments weeks late. It wasn’t because I was having trouble, it was because I had no motivation and energy to do them. This isn’t the norm for me. Without a routine schedule, I felt lost. That makes me sound like a robot, but I think it’s because it’s been that way since we were so small, change this big is affecting me to the max. (S1)

In the fifth statement, the answer is in strong disagree (SD) which has 13 respondents with a presentation of 7.9%, for the answer of disagree (D) has a percentage of 5.4%. Furthermore, the answer for neutral (N) has 33 respondents with a presentation of 20%, the answer for agreeing (A) has 96 respondents with a presentation of 58.2%, and strongly disagree (SA) has a presentation of 8.5%.

On average the mean for this statement is 3.53. From the result, it can be concluded that the 66.7% respondents agree that online the statement 5. This result also supported by the interview with the S5 as follows:

Yes, I believe that learning English online is a novel and fascinating experience for me. I am not a traditional student, therefore online programs fit my lifestyle. If I had the option, I would take all of my classes online. I've saved time and money by taking classes online. Additionally, taking classes online enables me to work while attending school full-time.

My computer crashing was the only negative for me. Other than that, I have had a great and educational experience taking online classes. (S5) The sixth statement, the answer is in strong disagree (SD) which has 9 respondents with a presentation of 5.5%, and disagree has 21 respondents (D) with a presentation of 12.7%. The answer of neutral (N) has 51 respondents with a presentation of 30.9%, the answer of agree (A) has a percentage of 41.8% or 69 respondents, the answer for strong agree (SA) has 15 respondents with a presentation of 9.1%. On average the mean for this statement is 3.36. Therefore, from the result, it can be concluded that 50.9% respondents agreed online English language learning could help them to improve listening and speaking skills effectively.

The seventh statement, the most answer is in agree (A) which has 97 respondents with a presentation of 58.8%. Furthermore, for the answer of strongly agree it has 25 respondents with a presentation of 15.2%. Neutral has 24

respondents (14.5%). On average the mean for this statement is 3.69. The answer for disagreeing and strongly disagree have 19 respondents (11.5%). Thus, from the result above it can be concluded that 74% respondents agreed the statement 7.

In the eighth statement, the most answer is in agree which has 70 respondents with a presentation of 42.4%. Furthermore, the answer strongly agree has 14 respondents (8.5%), and neutral has 51 respondents (12.7%). The last one is the answer for disagreeing and strongly disagree which has 30 respondents (18.2%). On average the mean for this statement is 3.35. Therefore, from the result, it can be concluded that 50.9% teachers agreed with the statement 8.

In the ninth statement, the answer is in strong disagree (SD) which has 12 respondents with a presentation of 7.3%, for the answer of disagree (D) has a percentage of 4.8%. Furthermore, the answer of neutral (N) has 20 respondents with a presentation of 12.1%, the answer for agreeing (A) has 98 respondents with a presentation of 59.4%, and strongly disagree (SA) has a presentation of 27.4%. On average the mean for this statement is 3.72. Therefore, from the result, it can be concluded that the 86.8% respondents don’t agree this statement.

In the tenth statement, the answer is in agree (A) which has 82 respondents with a presentation of 49.7%. Furthermore, 16.4% students answered strongly agree (A). On average the mean for this statement is 3.43. From the result, it can be concluded that 98 respondents agreed with this statement.

In statements 11 (mean 3.52) and 12 (mean 3.63), the answer is in agree (A) of statement 11 which has 83 respondents with a presentation of 50.3%, and 92 respondents with a presentation of 55.7%. Furthermore, they answered strongly agree (A) in two statements were 44 respondents with a presentation of 26.6%. From the result, we can see about 60% respondents agreed with statement 11,12. This result also supported by the interview with the S3,4 as follows:

Yes, I find online English learning is easier to understand because of

having integrated images and videos.I'll be better able to understand what is said if there are photos. Videos and television can also assist me in learning other dialects and observing the facial expressions, body language, and gestures used in various cultures. (S3)
