1.Warm – up ( 5 minutes)

-Ss sing the song “This is the way”.

- Teacher gives feedback.

( 15 minutes)

- Ss are going to ask and answer questions about the class someone is in.

- Ss look at three pictures to discuss the contexts in which the language is used.

- Ss ask and answer the questions such as:

Who are they? Where are they? What are they talking about?

(Picture a: Phong and Judy greet each other ; In picture b: Judy asks Phong where his school is. In picture c: she continues to asks Phong What class are you in? and Phong answers I’m in class 4A.

-Teacher plays the recording a few times, Ss listen and repeat in chorally, and individually, Ss point to the characters speaking.

- T plays the recording again for them to listen and say along.

- Ss practise the dialogue in 2 minutes.

- Teacher calls some pairs practise in front of the class.

(10 minutes)

- ss are going to practice asking and answering questions about the classes the ss are in.

- Stick the flashcards on the board

- Ss look at pictures to understand how the language is used in different contexts.

- In the first two bubbles, ss ask and answer questions about what class they are in using what class are you in? I’min Class……

- In the next two bubbles, Ss ask and answer questions about what class someone is in, using What class is he/she in? He’s/She’s in Class ………

- Ss say the class 4A, 5B, 3C, and 2D chorally and individually.

- Ss practise the sentence patterns in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles.

- T repeats the same procedure with the rest pictures.

- Teacher calls some pairs to act in front of the class, T checks as a class and correct pronunciation, if necessary.

4.Let’s talk (7 minutes)

- Ss are going to revise what they have learnt in lesson 1, 2 using facts about themselves.

- Ss work in pairs: one Ss ask the given questions:

What's the name of your school?

Where is it?

What class are you in?

- Teacher calls some pairs or groups to practise in front of the class, helSs them if necessary.

- Ss practise the sentence patterns at home.

- Ss are going to four dialogues and number the pictures.

- Ss look at the pictures to identify the similarities and differences by explaining the names and the locations of the school ( picture a and b) and the names of the classes ( picture c and d).

- Teacher checks Ss’ understanding.

- Teacher plays the recording a few times. Ss listen to the recording and number the pictures.

- Ss swap their answers before T checks as a class.

4.Let’s play (7 minutes)

- Ss are going to play the game Pass the secret.

- T divides ss into groups of six:

+ Ss line up in rows, then whisper the first ss in each row a sentence, e.g. My school is in Nguyen Trai Street.The first ss then whispers the sentence to the second one. The last ss in the row says aloud the sentence she / he heard.

+ the group that says the teacher’s sentence correctly in the shortest time will win the game.

- Ss practise the sentence patterns at home.
