He can lift the heavy box. **(d) Biết làm gì đó** * Yuko can speak English. **(e) SAI: Cấu trúc sai** * Incorrect: Yuko can to speak English. **(f) SAI: Thì hiện tại đơn** * Incorrect: Yuko can speak English. **(g) Động từ khuyết thiếu + not = dạng phủ định** * Alice can not come. = Alice cannot come. = Alice can’t come. **7-2: ĐẶT CÂU HỎI SỬ DỤNG CAN: PHỎNG VẤN VÀ TRẢ LỜI** **(a) Khả năng của người khác** * Can you speak Arabic? * + Yes, I can. * + No, I can’t. **(b) Xin phép** * Can Marge come to the party? * + Yes, she can. * + No, she can’t. **(c) Yêu cầu sự giúp đỡ** * Can I borrow a hammer? * + At a hardware store. **(d) Yêu cầu sự hướng dẫn** * Can your help me? * + Tomorrow afternoon. **7-3: SỬ DỤNG COULD: QUÁ KHỨ CỦA CAN** **(a) Khả năng trong quá khứ** * I can swim. * I could swim. **(b) Biết làm gì đó trong quá khứ** * I know how to swim. * I knew how to swim. **(c) Đặt câu hỏi về khả năng trong quá khứ** * Can you cook? * Do you know how to cook? **(d) Đặt câu hỏi về yêu cầu đã được thực hiện trong quá khứ** * Could I go to the movies tonight? * I couldn’t go because I had to study. **7-4: SỬ DỤNG VERY VÀ TOO + TÍNH TỪ** **(a) Very** * The box is very heavy, but Tom can lift it. **(b) Too** * The box is too heavy. Bob can’t lift it. **Tóm lại: "too" trong câu (b) cho thấy một kết quả tiêu cực, trong khi "very" trong câu (a) không như vậy.** **7-5: SỬ DỤNG TOO MANY VÀ TOO MUCH + DANH TỪ** **(a) Too many** * Tôi đã ăn quá nhiều bánh sandwich. **(b) Too much** * Tôi đã ăn quá nhiều thức ăn.
