INTRODUCTION
Sex is a topic that can't always be discussed openly with many people Because it's such a sensitive topic, people don't usually mention it in casual conversations This leads to the question
"Why is sex such a sensitive topic?" For different cultures, different countries or sometimes because of each person's perception, they will perceive topics related to sex differently In
Trang 3western, people are usually more open when it comes to the subject of sex, they consider it a very normal thing, but in the east when someone talks about the subject of sex most people especially adults with conservative personalities, will consider it an act of rudeness, disrespecfull
In addition, sex has many influencing factors such as external stimuli, human senses and at the same time influences from within These two factors always go together and have certain effects
on each sex in sex appetite Imagination is an important factor in stimulating human senses during sex and masturbation From different factors that stimulate people to sex lead to different reactions between men and women
In this research paper, in addition to the issues of factors affecting sex, I will also mention information that is often misunderstood about gender, factors that lead to people's sexual desire, related to the psychological status of sex in Vietnam and finally to personal experience
BODY
I, Social factors of sex
1) Social and Culture influences
First, there are the very important social and cultural influences Things like your families, your societies, your religions, and your personal values Socio-sexual behavior
is a natural behavior that is a common response between men and women, as heterosexual behavior This behavior starts early-on in childhood and is motivated by wonder and curiosity, for example child will explorer or showing their bodies where forms of sexual behaviors impulses as pretend during child play Sociocultural aspects are also demonstrated through the adolescence years when male and females begin exploring sexual behavior (kissing, touching and feeling) for which creates sexual arousal and pleasure, followed with dating and naturally carried over into adult life Adolescence
is a learning and growing process to finding out who they as a person, male or female, sexually Human beings have a natural instinct that leads them to explorer sexual diversity
However, society has formed its beliefs based on when sexual relations should be withheld Some feel that a relationship that refrains from having sex, is known as being
Trang 4monogamous Religious views of having sexual relations between a male and a female should be withhold until marriage, to consummate the marriage as being husband and wife In current culture, many religions are now including sex as part of the ceremony (rites) Not all behaviors are dictated by society (do’s and don’ts), many individuals have their own sexual beliefs and preferences and feel there are entitled to be erotic depending
on how and when behavior occurs and in what context For instance, if an individual finds that kissing sensually or kissing and licking toes is erotic, then they will do it It bring them pleasure Nudity is often viewed as erotic therefore opens the invitation to their partner However, is not the same when it pertains to groups of same gender, camps restricted to nudist, and any medically related procedure
Over time, people can be influenced from thoughts to sexual behavior by many factors such as surroundings, family, friends, school, co-workers
Psychological effects begin early on in life through learning and conditioning behaviors
in children For example, an infant child has the ability to respond to tactile stimulation and gradually learns conditioning to certain stimuli During the early years of a child’s life is the importance placed on the development phase of learning that overall forms their adult sexual orientation
By age five, gender identity develops (boy or girl) and is reinforced (learning and conditioning), through seeing, hearing, witnessing or experiencing a form of sexual contact Atypical effects from sexual types of stimuli
depends on how the child tends to interpret things by
the reactions that are given by adults as being good or
bad, appropriate or non-appropriate which is brought
to their awareness
2) The Psychological factors of sexual
motivation and behavior:
External Stimuli:
Trang 5Sexual Drive can be influenced by external stimuli It is common knowledge that men can be aroused by any type of external stimuli ie: Seeing, hearing, or viewing erotic material However, women experience similarly heightened arousal under controlled conditions
Imagined Stimuli:
Our imaginations can majorly
influence our sexual
arousal. It is said that the brain
is the most significant sexual
organ Even people who can
have no physical stimuli due
to injuries can still find
sexual desire.Common
Fantasies: Physical Fetish's,
Imagined Scenes, Celebrity
Fantasies
Fantasy:
Trang 6According to plenty of
studies, at least 95% of
both men and women
have sexual fantasies at
some point The brain
is the most significant
sexual organ Music,
movies, and video
games in today's
society draw adolescent males to the idea of violent fantasies or behavior in the
"bedroom", or that even a rape fantasy could be a turn on
3) Misinformation about Sex:
Human judgment and morality is often entangled with sex and desire and sadly, a lot of people have been made to feel miserable for liking certain things or being attracted to certain people There's also just been a lot of misinformation out there:
Condoms prevent all STDs ?
Health experts recommend condom use as a reliable method of reducing the risk
of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), but condoms only prevent the spread of one infection some STDs, but not all diseases Condoms are considered a good measure to protect people from some diseases such as gonorrhea, Chlamydia infection, HIV, Trichomoniasis But condoms are less effective against diseases such as genital herpes, HPV infection, syphilis or genital warts, scabies Infections can be spread through skin-to-skin contact, especially in broken skin areas that are not protected by condoms
Sex is only great when you're young?
The above thinking is not correct When you're young, you're in good health -that's the foundation for sexual fitness That helps you to be faster, stronger and more passionate when fighting, the frequency of intercourse is thicker However,
Trang 7that is not enough Sex in middle age can also bring more joy to life than when young, they feel more fulfilled Older adult sex focuses less on orgasm, but instead on emotion, sublimation, creativity, and emotional attachment Simply put, older adults enjoy sex more fully than younger people
Women are less interested in sex than men?
This thinking is even more incorrect Because in fact, women are just as interested
in sex as men They may lose interest if they have been sexually abused, failed in their love or care needs, due to work pressure But their sexual instincts are equally abundant and strong man Women are cuter and happier when they are sexually satisfied This is no different for men
Masturbation too much can lead to erectile dysfunction?
The truth is that masturbation is not the cause of erectile dysfunction as many people think The problem is that when you masturbate too often, your body becomes accustomed to that stimulation, whether it's your hand or a sex toy Because of this, your body may find it difficult to respond to stimuli from your partner, making it harder to get to the top
Masturbation can lead to blindness?
Many myths about masturbation, including this one, are rooted in the belief that sex is only for the sake of perpetuating one's race And since masturbation has no reproductive benefits, it is considered wrong Many people believe that sex can make people go crazy, get tuberculosis, grow hair on their hands or even die And,
of course, none of the above turned out to be true
Masturbation is not necessarily as embarrassing or harmful as many people think
If you do this action properly and in moderation, masturbation will bring more benefits than you think
Trang 8II, The Path to Sexual Desire:
1) Sexual Desire Definition:
Sexual desire is typically viewed as an interest in sexual objects or activities More precisely, it is the subjective feeling of wanting to engage in sex Sexual desire is sometimes, but not always, accompanied by genital arousal (such as penile erection in men and vaginal lubrication in women) Sexual desire can be triggered by a large variety
of cues and situations, including private thoughts, feelings, and fantasies; erotic materials (such as books, movies, photographs); and a variety of erotic environments, situations, or social interactions
2) Differences Between Males And Females In Sex Psychology:
There are some key differences when examining sexual psychology in males and females Typically, men seem to see sex as something that they constantly need to seek out For some men, it's a primal type of urge that causes them to think of sex more often than most women When this gets out of control, it can sometimes lead to sex addiction
or pornography addiction
Women often (but not always, of course) see sex as an extension of their relationship with a partner Sexual motivations in some women are motivated by deepening the relationship Sometimes, the motivations are also about procreation The same can be said of men, but sexual urges are often seen to be much more powerful, forward, and prevalent in males
=> Women want to talk first, connect first, then have sex For men, sex is the connection, the language they use to express their tender loving vulnerable side
Of course, this is all very general information and it isn't always going to be true in every case There are many men out there who think about sex quite differently from the more primal type of male described above You'll also find many women who think about sex
in different ways There’s really no set way that any of us are “supposed” to think about sex, so long as we and our relationships are healthy!
Trang 9III, Connection to Vietnam:
As an eastern country, Vietnam still considers sex a very sensitive subject and does not often bring it into the conversation It is influenced by culture and society for a long time which is called " Pure custom" Therefore, there is a problem that in Vietnamese schools, almost nowhere teaches sex education
In the curriculum of Vietnamese students, it is not until the 8th grade that students learn about the human genitalia But that's not enough because it's just biological knowledge in school, and the actual knowledge about your body at puberty is not taught by anyone
In addition, many parents are afraid to talk and teach their children about issues related to sex and puberty Therefore, students have to find out on their own through the internet and through books, which leads to a result that many children have misconceptions about sex, early sex, and unwanted pregnancy There is still much prejudice about premarital sex, being a single mother, being a single father, etc
IV, Own thoughts and experiences
About myself, like most other Vietnamese students, when I was in puberty, I didn't have anyone
to teach me the changes in my body that I had to find out and discover myself But luckily I was given a puberty manual by someone on my birthday when I was 13 and I'm a mature thinker myself, so during the years of my puberty, I created my own correct perception of sex
However, around the time of puberty, I also had some misconceptions about masturbation It's a funny story when I started masturbating thinking it was a sin and could make me infertile After
a week of refraining from masturbation, I went online and researched about masturbation and I discovered that masturbating in moderation 2-3 times a week is good for men's health, so since then I no longer have to worry every time I masturbate
Young people today are much more liberal than before, they have sex more openly, support the LGBT community, and no longer attach importance to virginity like the elderly
Personally, I think sex is a good thing, it helps us to better mental health, love life more, and have the right knowledge about sex, have a sense of preventing unwanted pregnancy and STDs
Trang 10In summary, from the above study, we can better understand the factors affecting sex, when in different countries, regions and societies with different behavioral cultures, the perception of sexuality is they are also different
In addition, we can also distinguish the stimuli to sexual desire in men and women with certain differences, thereby better understanding the behavior in the two sexes when external stimuli can
be passed through 4 senses: sight, hearing, smell, touch, and at the same time know that the brain
is the most significant sexual organ
At the same time, be aware of sexual misinformation with accurate information Understand the definition of sexual desire and how sexual desire differs in women and men
