Development:
The FIBRO Compact Cam (FCC) has been developed in close conjunction with the IFU (Institute for Metal Forming Technology) in Stuttgart Close contact with machine tool manufacturers and press operators has enabled us to design the FCC tool slide to be extremely practical and user-friendly Throughout the whole design and development process relevant parts have been checked and approved against FEM (Finite
Element Method) calculations
FEM analysis diagrams:
Trang 7FIBRO Compact Cam (FCC)
The suspended FIBRO Compact Cam (FCC) tool slide is available as standard in widths 400 mm, 500 mm,
600 mm, 700 mm, 800 mm, 900 mm and 1000 mm There is a standard angle increment of 5° ranging from 0° to 75° working angle All FCC tool slides from 0° to 45° have a removable pre-acceleration device in the
form of a roller and curved wedge
The main advantages at a glance:
– working surface with or without a shoulder
– working width – optionally 50 mm wider
– client processing (e.g boring pattern) can be incorporated directly
– slide and slide bed manufactured from EN-JS 1060 (GGG 60)
– driver manufactured from EN-JS 1070 (GGG 70)
– all sliding pairs are standardised and interchangeable
– ideal sliding combination of bronze with solid lubricant against ground steel components
– minimum wear, maximum life
– all sliding components with shoulder
– all matching parts identifi ed with engraving
– will accommodate high side loads thanks to prism guides and/or vertical guides
– the FCC slide meets BAK specifi cations
– standardised components
– compact design
– innovative clamp fi xing means easy removal from tool
– exact location of fi xing clamps thanks to matched stop (adjusting wedge)
– support area for working on working surface
– good access when assembled
– pre-acceleration by roller and curved wedge from 0° to 45° (removable)
– return unit both sides
– return unit completely recessed in the slide and removable under the press
– return and stripping force can be selected by using various gas spring packages so that the
slide can be perfectly matched to the specifi c application
– gas springs can be removed under the press
CAD data is available for all standardised measurements in 3D formats CATIA V5, STEP and IGES at www.fi bro.de.
Trang 8Modifying the work surface
There are stable side surfaces on the slides for customer modifi cation to the working surface
These surfaces are accurate to within 0.01 mm relative to the working surface, which ensures ideal use of the work surface
Fixing the clamp
The fi xing of the clamp is innovative but simple,
which requires minimum room for mounting in
and removing from the tool For mounting or
removal the securing screws only have to be
slackened, not removed
The torque of the tensioning screw is 280 Nm
Installation space required
If the slide bed is to remain in the tool we recommend a minimum clearance for mounting and removal of
50 mm Further details on the fi tting clearances required are provided in the CAD model All the critical areas are marked
Trang 9Stripping forces
The FIBRO Compact Cam has several gas spring packages for the stripping force and these can be
combined as appropriate to suit the application
Fixed gas spring package (from 0° to 75°):
One spring package (one or two gas springs, depending on the model size) is used for the full slide travel
and provides the slide reset The effective stripping force reduces at higher weights
1 Optional gas spring package (from 0° to 75°):
If a higher stripping force is required an optional gas spring package can be added in addition to the
permanent package (up to three gas springs, depending on the model size) At working angles of 0° to 45° this gas spring package only engages after pre-acceleration as the spring force would otherwise be effective unnecessarily on the roller/curved wedge At working angles of 50° to 75° the gas spring package is used
for the complete slide travel
2 Optional gas spring package (from 50° to 75°):
If the stripping force is insuffi cient for the specifi c application (e.g cutting) an additional optional gas spring package can be used This package is used at working angles of 50° to 75° It is effective over the last
20 mm of the slide travel and, depending on the size, consists of one or two gas springs
The optional gas spring packages and fi xings are not supplied as standard and can be ordered separately as necessary The FIBRO Compact Cam is ready to accept these optional gas springs as the mounting holes are standard and fi tting them at a later date is straightforward
The number of gas springs required, the fi xings and their order numbers can be read off for the specifi c
slide width from the tables
Working angle from 0° to 45° Working angle from 50° to 75°
The diagrams below show the main reset forces for the various gas spring combinations
Trang 10Working surfaces with/without shoulder
The working surface of the FCC slide can be manufactured with or without a shoulder
For all sizes the depth of the shoulder is 15 mm
Extended working surface
The FCC slide working surface can be ordered as Extra Wide The slide working surface is 50 mm wider,
25 mm on each side This can be useful when two slides are being used side by side as the working
surfaces can be arranged fl ush next to each other although the clamps are still easily accessible

The following table shows the stripping force of the individual gas spring pairs and the maximum stripping
force when using all the gas spring pairs The maximum stripping force for other combinations (e.g
perma-nent + second option) can be calculated by totalling the individual forces The stripping forces stated apply
to the working direction of the slide
Example 1:
selected: 400 mm working width, 15° working angle, 80 kg calculated weight on the working surface,
1.4 kN calculated required stripping force
sought: suffi cient stripping force
At 15° working angle the required stripping force for 100 kg weight is 0.43 kN => At 80 kg weight
0.43 kN x 0.8 = 0.34 kN is required for resetting Maximum stripping force at 15° working angle with
permanent gas spring package is 4.2 kN 4.2 kN – 0.34 kN = 3.86 kN This value exceeds the required
stripping force so that there is no need to use the optional gas spring package in this application
Example 2:
selected: 400 mm working width, 50° working angle, 170 kg calculated weight o on the working surface,
10 kN calculated required stripping force
sought: suffi cient stripping force
At 50° working angle the required stripping force for 100 kg weight is 0.38 kN => At 170 kg weight
0.38 kN x 1.7 = 0.65 kN is required for resetting Maximum stripping force at 50° working angle with
permanent gas spring package is 3.7 kN 3.7 kN – 0.65 kN = 3.05 kN residual stripping force
10 kN – 3.05 kN = 6.95 kN, still required Option 1 gas spring package is required At 50° this package
has a stripping force of 9.1 kN, so that a total stripping force of 9.1 kN + 3.05 kN = 12.15 kN is available
* the additional weight of the client tooling is not included
** only effective in the last 20 mm of slide travel

maximum permissible force for applying to the outer sections is 75% of the adjacent areas
