Unit 1: FAMILY Lesson 1: Part A, B, C

I Objective

1 Knowledge

- By the end of this lesson, students will be able to introduce family members

Vocabulary: father, mother.

Structures: This is my (mother).

2 Skills

- Develope listening, speaking, reading, writing skills

3 Core competencies & Personal qualities

- Communication, ability to use language (work in groups, talk about greeting)

- Ability to solve problems (play the games)

- Cooperation: (work in groups/ pairs)

- Show the love with members of your family

II Teaching aids

1 Teacher’s aids: Ss’book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, TV.

2 Students’ aids: Student book, notebooks, workbook.

III Procedures (35’)

1 Warm up (5’)

*Say “Hello!”

- T goes around the class, say “Hello!” to Ss, one

by one, and and asks Ss to say “Hello!”

- T asks Ss say “Hello!” to their neighboring

friends

2 Presentation

Activitiy 1: Listen and point Repeat (10’)

- T asks Ss to listen to each new word

- Ss listen to the T

- T asks Ss to listen to each new word and repeat

all together and individually

- T correct S’s pronunciation if necessary

- T arrange the flashcards on the board Play the

CD and asks Ss to listen and point at the pictures

- T plays the CD again and asks Ss listen, repeat

several times

- T change the order of the flashcards, point at

them individually and asks Ss say the words,

correct pronunciation when needed

- T asks Ss work in pairs, one points at the

picture in the book and the other says the word

- T arrange the flashcards on the board

- T write a number under each flashcard

- T asks Ss look at the flashcards for the count of

turns guessing the face down card

- T turn the card over after each guess

Activity 2: Listen and point (8’)

- T introduce the situation, point at each person

in the picture and asks Ss call out the words

“father, mother”

- T play the CD and asks Ss look at the picture

- T demonstrate the activity by pointing at

"father", "mother" in the picture

- T plays the CD again for Ss listen and repeat

- T plays the CD again for Ss listen and point

- T asks Ss to look at the flashcards and call out

the words

- T write them on the board

- T erase 1 or 2 letters of each word

- T asks Ss to go to the board

- T show a flashcard asks Ss to call out the word

and say the missing letter(s)

- Ss repeat the activity with other students

2 New lesson

*Activity 1: Role-play (10’)

- T point to each person in the pictures and asks

Ss call out the words "father/mother"

- Ss call out the words "father/mother"

- T demonstrate the activity with a student using

the speech bubbles

- T show a flashcard to the class and asks Ss to

practice the structure

E.g (Teacher shows a flashcard "mother") This is

my mother

- T do the same activity with another flashcard

- T divides the class into pairs

- T asks Ss to work in pairs to practice the

conversations and swap roles

- Ss to work in pairs

- T cals some pairs demonstrate the activity in

front of the class

*Activity 2: Say (10’)

- T divide the class into groups of four

- T calls student A introduce student C and D as

their family members to Student B, and asks

Student B say “Hello!” Have Students C and D

say “Hello!” to Student B

- T asks Ss to swap roles and repeat the activity

- T calls some pairs demonstrate the activity in

front of the class

*Further practice: Unscramble sentences (9’)

- T asks Ss to work in groups of four

- T gives each groups some flash cards, each card

has a word on it

- T set a time limit for the completion of the task
