UNIT 1: HOME Review Vocabulary and Grammar (p 86)

I Objectives:

1 Knowledge and skills:

By the end of this lesson, students will gain the following:

Vocabulary: words related to home, family members and housework;

towns, cities and villages

Grammar: Present simple

Students will be able to listen and read about family members and

housework; towns, cities and villages around the world

Students will be able to remember the words of unit 1, find mistakes in the sentences using present simple, and recognize the words that have different sounds

2 Competencies:

- They will develop communication skills and creativity and

problem-solving

- They will also demonstrate teamwork skills

3 Qualities:

- They can have responsibility for doing housework

- They will develop the love for family, community, country and the

world

II Teaching aids:

- Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards,

ISB software, projector/interactive whiteboard/TV

I Objectives:

1 Knowledge and skills:

By the end of this lesson, students will gain the following:

- Vocabulary: gain vocabulary items about school subjects, including

history, P.E (Physical Education), I.T (Information Technology), music, geography, literature, physics, biology, favorite (adj.)

- Structure: Ask and answer about favorite subjects with the questions –

What’s your favorite subject? – What subject do you like best? – I like …… /

My favorite subject is …

 Students can use the knowledge to talk about subjects they like and dislike at school, use some sentences / phrases to pass turn to someone after finishing speaking and listen for gist and details about school subjects

2 Competencies:

- Students are able to use the knowledge to complete the exercise,

practice language aspects in communicative situation

- They will raise their motivations and interests in learning English as a foreign language

- They will also develop communicative and team-working skills

through learning activities and illustrate problem-solving and critical-thinking skills through learning activities

3 Qualities:

- They are active to broaden and percept the knowledge

- They will have good attitude to working in groups, individual work, pair work and cooperative learning

- They can establish responsive and independent characteristics to be a life-long learner

a) Objective: Introduce the new lesson and set the scene for Ss to acquire

new language; get students' attention at the beginning of the class by means of enjoyable and short activities as well as to engage them in the steps that

c) Product: Ss review the name of some subjects they used to learn, and

get to know some new ones

each groups handouts

group has to finish the crossword as
