4 Adjustment

4.1 Setting the Outputs to the Desired Colors

Outputs 1, 2, 3

• Set the rotary selector switch Ý to Teach A1, Teach A2, Teach A3

• Press and hold the plus key 

è The LED at the plus key lights up

è The LED at the plus key goes out after 1 second, and the switching status display for output 1, output 2, output 3 starts blinking

• Release the plus key 

è Color is taught in to output A1, A2, A3

• Set the rotary selector switch Ý to RUN

• Check for correct function

Checking for Correct Function

• If the Sensor is unable to correctly differentiate amongst the selected colors in the actual application, window width must be reduced

• If additional colors need to be recognized at an output to which a color has already been taught in, these can be subsequently taught in to the output

• If the output demonstrates unreliable switching due to erratic measuring conditions, window width must

be increased

Setting Color at Output 1 via External Input Pin 4

Use of the external Teach-Input (Pin 4):

If you use the external Teach-Input (Pin 4) you have to connect a 1 kOhm/1 W-resistor between Pin 4 (external Teach-Input) and Pin 3 (GND)

Do not connect this resistor if you use the serial interface of the Sensor!

This function can only be used for output A1

• Set the rotary selector switch Ý to RUN

• Apply 10…30 V to external Teach-In input T (Pin 4) for a period of 0,3 seconds

• Disconnect voltage from the Teach-In input

è Color is taught in to output A1

• Check for correct function

Subsequent Color Teach-In

This function allows for subsequent Teach-In of further colors in addition to an already taught in color to any given output

Example:

A specific color needs to be recognized However, an additional color or a permissible color deviation needs

to be recognized as well The initial color is taught in to the desired output All other additional colors which also need to be recognized are subsequently taught in to the same output The entire spectrum which lies between the taught in colors is recognized

Trang 9

Subsequent Output Teach-In

• Direct the Sensor’s spot at the color to be taught in subsequently

• Set the rotary selector switch Ý to the desired output (Teach A1, Teach A2, Teach A3)

• Press and hold the minus key 

è The LED at the minus key lights up

è The LED at the minus key goes out after 1 second

è The switching status display for the corresponding output A1, A2, A3 blinks slowly

• Release the minus key 

è The additional color is taught in to the corresponding output

• Set the rotary selector switch Ý to RUN

• Check for correct function

Setting Window Width

When the color value is taught in, a color recognition window width is established at the same time Window width can be set to one of 7 different values individually for each output Small window width: The wenglor®FPxx color Sensor recognizes extremely fine color differences Large window width: The wenglor® FPxx color Sensor only differentiates amongst color families The window width default is 3, which represents a medium value

Checking the Current Window Width Setting

• Set the rotary selector switch Ý to the desired output (Teach A1, Teach A2, Teach A3)

• Press and hold the minus key 

è The LED at the minus key lights up

è The LED at the minus key goes out after 1 second

è The switching status display for the corresponding output A1, A2, A3 blinks slowly

è The switching status display for the corresponding output A1, A2, A3 starts blinking rapidly after

approximately 3 seconds

• Release the minus key 

è Observe the display which indicates the current window width setting and refer to table 1

• Check window width

• Set the rotary selector switch Ý to RUN

4.3 Interface and Software-Tools

Interface

The wenglor® FPxx color Sensor is equipped with an RS-232 interface for communication with a device such as

a PC or a controller The interface utilizes a software handshake procedure (see protocol specification below) All Sensor settings can be selected digitally with a PC, and all values generated by the Sensor can be read out

at a PC In this way, red, green and blue content of the color to be recognized can be read out digitally as well

Software-Tools

The following software tools are available from the wenglor® website:

• lnstall_FP_Demo.exe for the control of all interface functions

• DLL for direct integration into user-specific applications

Download address: www.wenglor.com

Interface Configuration

38.400 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit

Plug connectors included with the wenglor ® S232W3 plug adapter:

• 8-pin M12 plug connector for connecting the power supply and the outputs

• 8-pin M12 socket connector for direct Sensor connection

• 9-pin M12 subminiature socket connector for direct connection to the RS-232 interface at the PC, or the utilized controller

Trang 15
