UNIT 10: SEASONS AND WEATHER

Section A (1, 2, 3)

A Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- know new words of seasons and the weather in each season;

- ask and answer about the weather using What’s the weather like in _?

B Language focus:

I Vocabulary: spring, summer, autumn, winter, warm, hot, cool, cold

II Sentence patterns:

A: What’s the weather like in spring?

B: It’s warm.

III.Anticipated problems:

- some students will confuse the pronunciations of cool / cold

- some students will say What the weather like in …? instead of saying What’s the weather like in … ? and the same with It’s ……

C Ways of working: group work, pair work, individual work, T-students, students-students.

D Teaching aids: laptop, projector, extra board, worksheets, book

(checking the meanings, stress patterns)

- Have students play the game Slap Bingo to

check vocabulary

Play the game

2 Sentence patterns:

* Set the scene:

- Ask the whole class to do an exercise in the worksheet in 1 minute

Reorder the sentences to make a dialogue

- Have the whole class guess the order of the sentences

- Ask students to swap papers and compare in pairs

- Call 4 students to write the order they guess on the extra board

- Have the whole class listen to the dialogue once and check the answer

- Compare in pairs

- Call out the answers from the students

- Give feedback

- Have the whole class open the book P.94 listen and repeat in chorus (twice)

- Do Half-half reading, then change the roles

- Have students read the dialogue in pairs

- Call some pairs to read aloud

- Comment

- Find out the sentence pattern

A: What’s the weather like in spring?

B: It’s warm.

- Concept check: meaning, use, stress syllables, intonation

- Have students copy down.

screen.

- Have students to read all the words.

- Students work in pairs, practise asking and answering.

- Call some pairs to speak out
