Two popular traditions at Christmas is: decorating the home and singing the Christmas carol The home is the center of the Christmas celebration Inside, an evergreen tree is usually placed in the corner of the Living room Child and their parents wrap string of colorful lights around the tree, they hang ornaments on the branches A star or a angle often crowns the top Careful-wrapped gifts are place beneath Outside, families often strings lights around the windows, wind lights around trees and shrubs in the front yard As the families decorate they homes, they often put on Christmas record Almost every family have at least one favorite album or compact disc School children of all ages perform Christmas concerts for their parents and communities In Christmas’ Eve, family members gather around Christmas tree to sing tradition songs such as Jingle bells and Silent night

I went to my first lectures today! It was on the economic history of Liverpool I’d been worked that might not understand everything the lacturer said In fact, I understood ferfectly, but I couldn’t take notes fast enough! Luckily, Paddy was at the same lecture and afterwards, we went for
a coffee together and he let me copy some of his notes In return, I paid for his coffee While we were chatting, we found out that we both love horror films! We’re going to see one together at the cinema some time soon, but we didn’t fix a day

Paddy has got three brothers and a sister He gets on well with all of them, except for his elder brother, Mike They always argue, he says, because they’re closest in age (less than a year apart) Paddy is the second oldest of the five children It sounds like he had quite a difficult childhood He hardly saw his dad when he was younger, because he worked in the city and only came back to their village at weekends The children were brought up by their mum, really Imagine bringing up five children on your own! What a nightmare!
Saturday, 29 th September
It’s seven o’clock on Saturday evening and my housemate are all getting ready to go out Mary and Marcus are going to a party together They aren’t a couple – or least, that’s what they say I’m not sure! Paddy is going to watch a basketball match with some friends I’m going to have a quiet night in I don’t wish I was going out I’m tired, and there’s a good film on TV, so I’ll be happy just hanging out at home I’ll probaly send a few e-mails to friends back in Poland before the film starts
