(IELTS Wri ng Actual Test 12/1/2017)
Bài t p 3
Some people might argue that providing ter ary educa on for the majority of young people
is not possible and useful Personally, I agree with these ideas and will outline my reasons in the essay below
Firstly, having a university degree no longer has a vital role to the future of young people even in this knowledge-based society In many countries, especially Germany, voca onal training has gained more popularity among young people because it enhances employment opportuni es as well as job security upon comple on Furthermore, if everyone could get admi ed to college, it would lead to imbalances in the workforce that would greatly damage the economic structure of a country This is because there is li le chance that university graduates would choose blue-collar jobs such as working in factories, over the jobs that they are qualiied for
Secondly, I think that it is impossible to provide almost all young people with access to ter ary educa on In Vietnam, the demand for entering college never ceases to grow This puts the government in a dilemma of whether they should risk alloca ng their resources and possible face a inancial predicament due to exorbitant educa on costs in many inancially independent universi es, such as the Na onal Economics University Furthermore, it is simply unrealis c for universi es to accommodate such a sudden increase in the number of students
on campus, not to men on the fact that most departments are currently short-stafed
In conclusion, I strongly oppose the idea of dispensing university educa on to a high propor on
of young people owing to the arguments presented above

Trang 21Nowadays, some employers think that formal academic qualiica ons are more important than life experience or personal quali es when they look for new employees Why is it the case? Is it a posi ve
or nega ve development?
Bài t p 4
In this increasingly compe ve society, academic university degrees are considered to be more essen al than hands-on experience by some employers when they seek new candidates Although there are some underlying reasons for this, I s ll believe that this is completely a nega ve movement
There are two factors to explain why some job recruiters prefer university qualiica ons to life experience when recrui ng new employees Firstly, in many professions, formal academic degrees seem to be the top priority of many employers when selec ng new applicants In order to become a doctor, for example, a candidate has to acquire a great deal of medical knowledge at university as well as spend a lot of me to prac ce and carry out experiments Secondly, this trend might be a great way to save me for employee recruiters Compared
to formal academic candidates who are likely ready to start working, employees may have to spend me on training non-academic applicants how to work properly Therefore, this saved
me can be used in other valuable ways
However, I think that this is a nega ve development and both academic and non-academic job hunters should receive equal chance in the recruitment process This is because many people decide to work right a er school instead of star ng ter ary educa on in order to gain life skills and prac cal experience On top of that, a er a long me of working in a real work environment, people are also capable of doing most assigned tasks without a formal academic educa on The typical example can be seen in the case of Steve Jobs, a founder of Apple, who was the most successful person in the technology industry without holding any formal educa on in this ield
In conclusion, this trend is a ributable to two main reasons, and I believe that this is a nega ve progress for the above-men oned arguments
(Bài m u tham kh o Band 7+)
Bài m u
Trang 22Many people say that universi es should only ofer places to young students with the highest marks, while others say they should accept people of all ages, even if they did not do well at school Discuss both views and give your own opinion
Bài t p 5
In today’s society, where the acquisi on of knowledge is the key to be er career prospects, having access to ter ary educa on is a life-changing opportunity for many students However, some claim universi es should only accept young students with the highest grades, while others believe every student, regardless of age and academic ability, should be given equal educa onal opportuni es I will discuss both views and state my opinion in the following essay
Firstly, high school students with higher grades are more deserved to a end university as their grades somewhat imply that they have superior academic skills compared to their peers,
be it a be er memory, logical thinking or me management skills Therefore, such students are more likely to handle the immense workload and pressure at university Moreover, ofering university places to only a limited number of students would result in high-quality undergraduates For example, most pres gious colleges in Vietnam, whose acceptance rates are low, only recruit the highest scorers in the na onal university entrance exam to make sure that all of the universi es resources are available for students who have a higher chance of success
As sensible and beneicial as it is, many people oppose the aforemen oned idea since they believe that only accep ng young academically-gi ed individuals is unfair to older students
or those who do not do well at school Firstly, a student’s s age or performance at school does not always relect their poten al to succeed at university Thus, it is unethical to deny access
to ter ary educa on to some students, especially in a world where formal qualiica ons are
of great importance in gaining employment Also, there is more to college admissions than just academic performance In fact, many well-known universi es in America, like Harvard or Yale, not only accept academically gi ed students but also those who are par cularly gi ed
in sport or art This helps to maintain a diverse community, where each student is valued and rewarded for what they are good at instead of just academic excellence
In conclusion, although only accep ng students with high marks is advantageous in some ways, I believe providing university places for all students is more just and beneicial in the long run

Bài t p 1
1 – The tradi onal learning model provides students with face – to – face interac on which
is believed to increase their learning outcomes.
2 – Modern technology not only enhances students’ independent learning but also allows
teachers to deliver more interes ng lessons
3 – Online courses that ofer peer support are a rac ng an increasing number of par cipants.
4 – Modern technology enables students to have their personalized learning models, helping
them study at their own pace
5 – There are many Internet – based applica ons that are equipped with features allowing
group discussions and exchange of ideas between students
Bài t p 2
There are many beneits of integra ng technology into educa on Firstly, integra ng technology into learning will create an efec ve learning environment as well as enable students to have access to a huge amount of informa on available on the Internet This, as a result, will reduce teachers’ workload Secondly, it is more convenient for students who live far away from school because they can s ll par cipate in online courses

Trang 30Some universi es ofer online courses as an alterna ve to classes delivered on campus Do you think this is a posi ve or nega ve development?
On the other hand, online courses are a poor subs tute for tradi onal classes delivered
at universi es These courses do not ofer learners face-to-face interac on which is s ll important to their understanding of the lessons In addi on, this type of learning does not allow discussions between classmates either, and without peer support, student’s learning outcomes might be afected in an undesirable way Furthermore, as a lot of self-discipline is required and there are so many distrac ons from the Internet while studying from an online website, students are more likely to procras nate This also contributes to lower results as students may tend to lose focus during online lessons
In conclusion, having online courses available to choose from while at university beneits students in a number of ways However, their drawbacks in terms of decreased learning outcomes should be accounted for

Trang 31Schools are no longer necessary because children can get so much informa on available through the Internet, and they can study just as well at home To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Bài t p 4
Since there is a wealth of informa on available on the Internet, students can study by themselves at home just as efec vely as they do at school; and therefore some people believe that schools are not needed anymore In my view, much as I agree that students can study well at home with the help of the Internet, I feel that schools play a vital role in our society and cannot be replaced no ma er what
There are ways for children to learn from the Internet, most of which are either free or afordable for almost everyone One great way is from online newspapers and video websites such as Na onal Geographic and Youtube, which ofers a variety of topic areas suitable for people of diferent ages Children can learn a great deal of knowledge about culture, science, and many other areas which they are taught at schools Also, they can par cipate in online courses favored by a growing number of youths nowadays This type learning is even more advantageous in the sense that children can lexibly choose to study whatever subjects they are interested in
That being said, my convic on is that formal educa on is irreplaceable in any society It is true that students can acquire knowledge at home very easily with the help of the Internet; however, lack of teachers’ guidance and peer support is a clear disadvantage to this form of learning These factors are extremely important to a child’s intellectual development, which emphasizes the necessity of school environments Furthermore, knowledge and skills are not the only things to expect from formal educa on but social rela onships and mental development Children who go to school and establish friendships can both have fun and improve their learning outcomes
In conclusion, the Internet is a good way for young children to study at home, but I think that claiming schools are irrelevant to children’s learning because of this is merely absurd

1 Many students choose to pursue a career in accoun ng because they can have be er
development prospects and high salaries.
2 Besides salary, an important factor for job sa sfac on is favorable working condi ons where employees can get a promo on and have trusted colleagues.
3 It seems to be di cult for modern workers to achieve a work-life balance due to heavy
workload and high pressure at work
4 Either remaining on a career path or exploring diferent career paths enables employees

Working in a posi on for a long period of me can have many great beneits Firstly, those

Those who change jobs or career paths more regularly may also be able to reap many beneits
Firstly, some people’s personali es are not suitable for remaining in a career path for long periods of me, and they may need to change their jobs more regularly to have a sense of
job sa sfac on My friend, for example, always wants to challenge herself with diferent
posi ons so she changes jobs periodically to have invigora ng experiences and alleviate
boredom at work In addi on to this, if their current posi on involves too much pressure with
heavy workload , or simply does not provide employees with a living wage, exploring diferent
career paths may lead workers to eventually inding a career that will be more suitable for them in the long term
Some people think that people who choose a job early and keep doing it are more likely to get a isfying career life than those who frequently change jobs To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Choosing a career early in life and pursuing it for an extended period of me can have many great beneits For example, star ng a career early can provide someone with a be er inancial situa on later in life, and hence greater sa sfac on In addi on to this, remaining
on a par cular career path for a long period of me may allow someone to advance to the top of their chosen ield through promo on, which may also possibly lead to greater career fulilment
On the other hand, those who change jobs or career paths more regularly may also experience many beneits For example, some people’s personali es are not suitable for staying in a par cular job for long periods of me, and they may need to change career paths more regularly to stay sa sied In addi on to this, choosing a career path can be an overwhelming

In conclusion, how one person gains sa sfac on from their career may be diferent from another Some may gain job sa sfac on from how big their salary is, how far they have advanced within a par cular company or ield, or how much fame or praise they have earned Others may be just as content or sa sied in knowing that their chosen career is beneicial towards serving the needs of others Either way, I believe that choosing a career early in life and staying on this career path does not guarantee job sa sfac on later in life
