Your application is the first contact you will have with an employer The employer will use it to help decide if you are suitable for the job and if they would like to give you an interview

It is most important to take time and care with your application Make it look good and make sure all the information is clear and easy to read Make sure you use paper that is size A4

The Application Letter

There are many ways you can write a letter for a job One way is, your address, phone number and the date must be on the letter Always address the letter to the person named in the add If there is no name mentioned write Sir/Madam or phone the company and get the correct name When you write the letter put in the following information

 Refer to the job and where and when you saw it advertised

 Put in any information about work you have done before

 Give your telephone number in the letter

Writing an application

letter

Page 1

When you apply for a job with an application

form there is no need to send a letter If you are

sending a CV it is normal to include a covering

letter Sometimes a letter is all you need for a job application The job advertisement will always tell you

how to apply.

A letter for a job application is a very important

letter.

The way you present the letter is your first

introduction

to the person who could be your new employer As luck

would have it, there is a standard format for this kind of

Trang 3

letter, and this makes the letter much easier to

write.

There are four basic pieces of information you need to

include in a covering letter for a job application.

1 Name the job you are applying for and where you

found out about it For example, name the

newspaper where the ad appeared and the date when

it was printed.

2 Include some information about yourself This is not necessary if you are including a CV.

3 Give the name, address and phone number of two

people who will recommend you to the potential employer It is best if one of these is a personal

referee and one is a work referee.

4 State the times when you will be available for an interview.

Page 2

Below is an example of a covering letter that could be

sent without a CV The arrangement or format of the

page should always be the same as this.

Writing letters is an art in itself, although people say it is

a dying art There are two types of letters, formal and

informal A formal letter is the kind of letter you would

send with a job application or to the bank manager! An

informal letter is a letter you would write to a friend or

relation.

In a formal letter there are rules about how the

and the goodbye should be written If you use the

person’s name, for example, Dear Santa Claus,

then you

should end the letter, Yours sincerely, followed

Advice for Job Seekers

The only reason for sending your application letter is to motivate an employer to meet with you And it means that you shouldn't say anything in a letter that has even the slightest chance of keeping you off his already overcrowded

interview schedule

In the first paragraph of your letter, identify the job you are writing about Mention how you found out about the job Was it through a newspaper ad or did an employee with the business tell you about the job? The next paragraph should talk about your abilities Tell why you are a good person for that particular' job The final paragraph should contain two items: a request for an appointment at the

employer's convenience and

information about when and how you can be reached

If you think the boss wants an MBA and you haven't got it, don't mention your education Does this mean that you should lie? No, it only means that you shouldn't volunteer information that might be considered in a negative light Be specific, focus on how good you are and don't say anything that might be viewed as negative Most important, ask for an interview

Tailor your application as closely

as possible to the known or

probable requirements of the job you seek That may be difficult if you are sending out hundreds of applications Use a series of well-written letters, each of which

Trang 11

highlights your strengths relative to

a specific set of hiring

requirements, and whenever possible, personally addressed

Tips:

A good application letter should:

1 Be personal ( have the name and position to whom it is addressed)

2 Give the reason of applying for a particular company

3 Be persuasive, i.e written according to AIDA formula:

“Attention-Interest-Desire-Action

4 Use simple and direct language

5 Have perfect spelling, punctuation and

grammar; no typing errors are admitted

6 Have ethic attractive layout

7 Be printed/written on top quality paper

8 Be short (one page long), standard and businesslike

9 Be original,

photocopies are

unacceptable

In many ways, fitness is synonymous to health Modern living requires good health and to

achieve such state, a person must stay fit Good health and fitness are interrelated When a person

is fit, then that person is considered healthy; and if a person is healthy, his or her fitness level naturally goes up

But if fitness only pertains to health it's inadequate Have you heard about the Evolution Theory?

It states that only the fit of all species can survive and pass their genes So fitness is not entirely about health; you should also suit the environment that you live, anytime and anywhere

Therefore, a person should be able to adapt to any environment in order to survive, together with proper fitness exercises

Oftentimes, people disregard the importance of fitness They overlook their responsibility to stay fit at all times Perhaps they don't know the benefits of 'anytime fitness' Life holds a lot of pleasure for individuals; but if you're always ill you can't enjoy such pleasures of life

Is fitness anytime possible? Well, of course it is; just look on the positive and bright things in life You will surely improve your life, look fresher, don't fear any form of infection, and no worries if your car broke down; at least you get to walk an extra few blocks before reaching your home

AdChoices

Think of every situation as an opportunity to stay fit and this is the key to fitness anytime You can make the most out of your independence, have peace of mind, and you're quite confident that you can handle everything

Training for fitness focuses primarily on the different groups of muscles of every human being; this results to muscular fitness, aerobic fitness, and increases stability and flexibility There are other factors to consider before deciding to do a physical activity, like your physical capability

Do check with your doctor before performing any activity that requires physical strength

Aerobic exercises are of different kinds You can do running, dancing, swimming, or even cycling Make sure that you limit your exercise to about 30-40 minutes every day

In order for your muscles to exude endurance and strength, focus more on muscular fitness You can better enhance your muscular fitness if you do some strength training; this will result to an
