UNIT 15: WHEN'S CHILDREN'S DAY?

Lesson 3: Part 1, 2, 3

I Objectives

1 Knowledge: - By the end of this lesson, students will be able to practice 2

sounds / cl/and /fl/ and practice listening, speaking, writing and reading skills

- Vocabulary: Review

- Structure: Review

2 Skills

- Practice listening and speaking skills

3.Attitude:

- Students are interested in finding words containing cl and fl sounds

II Teaching- aids

- Student’s book, cassette, CD, pictures, posters

III Methods:

- Individual work, group work

IV Procedure:

A Organization: ( 1’)

- Greeting: Good morning!/ Good afternoon!

- Who’s absent today?

B Warm up (4’)

*Activity:

- Ask Ss sing a song ( Happy New Year)

- Comment

C New lesson:

*Activity 1: Listen and repeat (10’)

- Ask the students open the book on page 34

- T asks Ss to read the title

- Ss: read

-Tell Ps that they are going to practise saying the

sounds of the lettes cl and fl in the words clothes,

close, flowers and floor respectively.

- First, put the letters cl and fl and the words

clothes, close, flowers and floor on the board Play

1 Listen and repeat

the recording and ask Ps to repeat a few time

Then write the four sentences on the board Play

the recording more than once, if necessary, and let

Ps say the sentences

-Do choral and individual repetition of the sounds,

words and sentences until Ps feel confident

- Get some Ps to perform in front of the class

Check as a class and correct the pronunciation, if

necessary

*Minh 4C: Listen and repeat following the teacher

* Play game: whisper

*Activity 2: Listen and write Then say aloud

- T asks students to open the book on page 34

- Ss open the book

- T: how many sentences?

- Ss: 4

- Tell Ss that they are going to listen to four

sentences, write the correct option and then say

aloud

- Ask Ss to listen the 1st time

- Ss listen

- Ask ss to listen the 2nd time

- Ss listen and do the task

- Ask Ss to compare with their partners

- Ask Ss to tell the answers

- Ask Ss to listen the 3rd time( Listen and check)

- Ask Ss to say the sentences aloud

*play a game: Who is faster

- T devides Ss into 2 groups

- T explains how to play this game

- T-ss play together

- T monitors and gives feedback

*Minh 4C: Listen and write following the teacher

*Activity 3: Let’s chant (8’)

-Stick the large- sized sheet of paper with the

chant on the board

- Discuss the pictures with Ss

- T plays the recording the 1st time for Ss to listen

- Ss listen and clap their hands

2 Listen and write Then say aloud.

- Divide the class into groups Each group chants a

line without music

- Call on a group to chant in front of the class

* Suggest Ss replace the names in the chant with

their two friends then chant

-Read aloud vocabulary and model sentence to check pronunciation

-Students answer some questions about lesson such as: What objective did you learn from lesson? What skill do you get?

- Learn by heart the chant

Lesson 3: Part 4, 5, 6

I Objectives

1 Knowledge:

- At the end of the period, pupils will be able to: read and write specific

information about popular festival and what people do at a festival

-Vocabulary: Review

- Structure: Review

2 Skills

- Practice reading and writing skills

3 Attitude:

- Students are interested in finding words containing cl and fl sounds

II Teaching- aids

- Flashcards, pictures, poster

III Methods:

- Individual work, group work

IV Procedure:

A Organization: ( 1’)

- Greeting: Good morning!/ Good afternoon!

-Who’s absent today?

B Warm up (4’)

- Spending a few minutes revising the previous lesson: Get one group of pupils

to go to the front of the class to say the chant What do you do at Tet? and do

action

C New lesson:

*Activity 4: Read and write (10’).

- Tell Ps that they are going to read the text

about Tet and complete the sentences

- First, Ask Ps to read the incomplete

sentences under the text and elicit what

words they need to fill the gaps Focus Ps on

the activities children do at Tet Then ask

them to read the text to find appropriate

information to complete the sentences.( eg:

What festival is it soon? What does Mai’s

family buy? What do they decorate, make

and watch? Who do they visit?)

-Give them time to do the task

independently

-Get Ps to swap their answers before

checking as a class If there is enough time,

let some pairs ask and answer the questions

*Minh 4C: Read and write following the

teacher

*Activity 5: Write (10’)

- Tell Ps that they are going to write a short

paragraph about Tet They may use the

information from Activity 4

- Ask Ps to work in pairs or groups to

discuss what they do at Tet Focus ps on

their given clues Check comprehension

- Give ps time to do the task independently

4 Read and write

-Get Ps to swap their answers before

checking as a class

- If there is time, Ask one Ps to write on the

board

- Tell Ps that they are going to make

greeting cards for Tet and write wishes to

their friends Explain the task and check

understanding

- Give each P a small card and some colour

pencils Ask them to draw a card for Tet

After decorating the card, they should copy

the text from the Ps’ book and fill in the

information

- Give them time to do the task during the

lesson or ask them to do it as homework

- Get Ps to swap their cards in pairs

- Call some of them to the front of the class

and read aloud what their partners have

written

- Call 2 Ss to the board and practice the chant on page 34

- Have Ss look at pictures a, b, c and d and

identify the colour and school thing

- Set the scene: you are going to listen to the

recording about 4 situations and write the

number correct pictures.

-1st:Play the recording all the way through for

Ss to listen while they are looking the pictures

in their books

-2nd: play the recording for Ss to listen and

number the correct pictures

- Choose one or two Ss to share their answers

- Have Ss trade their answers in pairs for

- T introduces the topic “you are going to read

the sentences to get the information in order to

match the questions to the answers”
