Unfortunately, my first foray into YouTube didn’t go so well.

Here’s the full story of what went down: 

A few years ago I decided to give

YouTube marketing a try

I didn’t want to go all-in on the platform

before I saw evidence that it could actually help me grow my business

A few months after

So I assumed that YouTube

was a waste of time.

That is, until I saw something a few months later that changed my mind

As you may know, I send

So one day last year I grabbed a cup of coffee, sat down, and read through the

latest survey results

I noticed something weird… 

something I’d never seen in any

welcome survey before

One of the questions in


my welcome survey was:

“What made you decide to sign up?”

www.getwsodo.com

I had given up on YouTube months ago

Because my videos didn’t get many 
views or bring in much traffic, I thought:

“YouTube isn’t working for me.”

I was wrong.

People WERE finding me from YouTube

And not just people… customers!

All I needed to do was get more views

The only problem was:

I had NO idea how to get more views.

So I decided to do what anyone

would do in this situation:

I thought to myself:


“This is YouTube It’s different.”

I asked my friend with a DSLR camera


to help me film a bunch of videos

I didn’t put much thought into each one

In fact as you can see in this shot, I didn’t

even bother to get a much-needed haircut!

I had an outline of what I wanted to say 


But that was about it

So I rambled on and tripped


over my own words

To top things off, I hired a random guy 


off of Upwork to edit them.

That’s when I thought:


“Maybe you’re not optimizing


your videos the right way.”

I went back to my old videos and optimized my title, description and

Here was this massive source of untapped

traffic staring me in the face

But I didn't know how to take advantage of it.

I carefully studied my videos to see what DID work. www.getwsodo.com

I also conducted dozens of YouTube SEO experiments (I tested different

combinations of keywords, titles, descriptions, tags thumbnails and more)

I developed a system for creating and optimizing videos that seemed like it

should work I needed to test it in the real

world to be sure.

Everything was riding on these two

I’d go all-in with YouTube.

My first video quickly racked up

And the success of these two videos led to an influx of new visitors and email subscribers.

views and 5,000 subscribers every month.
