1 INTRODUCTION

1.1.The reasons for choosing the topic

In the strong development of information technology today, English has truly become an international language It plays a very important role in the field

of social development in general and education in particular Today there are many countries in the world using English in teaching in schools as well as in daily communication English is the most important media in many countries around the world Besides English is the official language of 44 countries For that reason, access to and understanding of English is imperative in society industrialization and modernization of the country [7]

English is an important language, commonly used worldwide and is used

in different fields In the national construction, development and integration with

the world, English has become a vital tool, work tool and communicative tool

between all of the modern people, it is an important second language after their mother tongue In our country, English is considered as the language of transaction in economics, politics, culture, and has been teaching at the elementary, secondary, college, university In process of learning English, we know more in another language, a different culture and also more love Vietnamese and Vietnamese culture To use English as a language of communication, we not only need to master the rules of grammar, have good listening skills, have knowledge of the language but also to have a number of diversified, rich lexical In teaching and learning English, vocabulary is one of three elements forming the system of language knowledge, it is the condition

of formation and development of communication skills In any languages, the role of vocabulary is also very important It is possible that a language is a subset of the vocabulary Thus, learning and practicing vocabulary is the leading factor in the transmission of a passive and receptive language in general and English in particular Because vocabulary is a language unit so it is expressed in two forms: speech and handwriting If you want to use a foreign language, that means you must master the expressive forms from the verbal and writing But due to the association of words with the other elements of language (grammar, pronunciation, intonation ) or in social situations, many researchers believe that to build a wall language vocabulary is the "bricks" and the grammar and sentence structure as "grout" to mount the brick wall creates language Without a vocabulary necessary, students can not use the sentence structure and the function of language in communication.[3]

From the above reasons, I have researched and applied effectively the

experience initiatives "Some experiences of teaching English vocabulary for 6 grade students through some games at Ha Binh secondary school" and I am

pleased to present it to you Due to the limited time and limited experience, my initiative should not be experienced as unwanted, I am looking forward to your contributions to my ideas more complete

1.2.The purpose of the study

In this subject, I don’t have ambition and enough time to give out all the

methods of teaching and learning English vocabulary With these methods, I hope they will help the students to learn and improve themselves some

vocabulary needed This makes the students easier to learn and practice their

English vocabulary

1.3.The object of study

Due to the fact of teaching and learning English vocabulary of the teacher and the students at Ha Binh secondary school I only apply for grade students 6

at Ha Binh secondary school so as to stimulate them to learn vocabulary well

1.4.The research methodology

In order to implement my measures effectively, I have used the following measures:

- Observation method: Teaching vocabulary in the assigned classes , compared with other classes not directly taught through the class time and class visits

- Conversation method: Directly communicate with students in class,, outside class to find information

- Statistical methods, data processing: through the examination of vocabulary at the end of the semester and the process of double-group work of students in class activities[6]

1.5.The new points of the initiative experience

Through this initiative students can access and easily learn vocabulary, would be very interested in learning English from games and help them remember words more quikly

My study subjects are students in grade 6, they are learning English new program; Although there are a lot of new words, they are interested in studying through the games

2 CONTENTS OF INITIATIVE EXPERIENCE

2.1 Theoretical basis of experience initiative

Vocabulary is one of the tools that people use to think, express ideas, emotions and learn about the world, is the foundation for all development skills such as reading comprehension, listening comprehension, speaking, writing, It

is also the major tool that helps students use English effectively Indeed, when talking to a native English , watching a movie without English subtitles, listening to a favorite song or read English documents, we will always be exposed to from vocabulary [5]

express anything at all Native speakers can understand the article correctly use vocabulary that is not grammatically correct However, they will not understand grammatically correct article, but do not use the exact words

A reality shows that Vietnam students learning English often encounter obstacles in how to speak English fluently They often find it difficult to participate in activities related to the speaking skill, because they only use a few repetitive structures and vocabulary Thus, their communication was interrupted abruptly early due to lack of vocabulary

To sump up, if the students do not have the vocabulary skills, their listening, speaking, reading and writing skill will not be developed If you do not have enough vocabulary, the people will have problems, even failure in communication Recognizing the importance of this, today all applicable methods in teaching are focused to teach vocabulary And start learning English

is always associated with learning vocabulary

Therefore, in the teaching process I thought about how students acquire vocabulary best to help students create the atmosphere lively language learning, help them remember the lessons from the right in , from which they can more easily use the word in the communication process

2.2 Current status of the problem before applying experience initiatives

2.2.1 General situation

English vocabulary as a tool, the most important means of using and learning English At any one skill of learning a foreign language must be used vocabulary So English is the capital, is an invaluable product, is the main tool for the users of English words For a lesson in English, yet most lessons also introduce the vocabulary section To achieve good results lesson, students must know how to pronounce as well as usage of the word Want that teachers need to choose the appropriate skills to each post so that students understand, easy to remember and easy to use

Foreign language is a subject requires students must be hardworking, diligent and interested As we have clearly seen, their native language not really mastered, sometimes depressed, neglected foreign language much more In these lessons are presented with descriptions vocabulary, previously, according to the old method teachers often introduce vocabulary by introducing from later explained the meaning of the word, in this way does not stimulate excitement to learn vocabulary for students, even students afraid, afraid to learn vocabulary, and does not promote students' positive Thus, by the method of teaching vocabulary through games help students to remember words and interested to learn vocabulary in the best way

2.2.2 Status of students

The majority of students at Ha Binh Secondary School are poor children

so their conditions of study are not good, the time and the English communication environment are limited.There is less opportunity for them to communicate In addition, they have not really studied hard, have not memorized the words English is a difficult subject with a lot of knowledge and a lot of vocabulary in each lesson so students can not digest the words after each lesson

2.2.3 Status of teachers

For the teacher, the teaching equipment has many limitations on the visual aids for teaching and learning The school has no audio-visual classrooms dedicated to learning English It is difficult to buy equipment for self-study English

at home.Books and reference materials for teachers are also very limited

Moreover, the motivation and the learning’s awareness of students are not good The students read and write very slowly, their memory capacity is not durable and not deep, learning the next lesson, they forget the previous lesson, most of them are not active

I studied the method of teaching vocabulary for 6 grade students at Ha Binh Secondary School

At first, I realized that the students were afraid to learn English vocabulary, they were very worried when

I checked the vocabulary of the previous lessons At the end of the first semester (mid-December)of Academic Year 2019- 2020, I had made a small test vocabulary for two classes

And I obtained the following results:

Through this survey, I found that the quality of their learning is not satisfactory, the number of students achieving good results is low, the number of students with weak results is even higher From that result, I presume to give you some tips to teach English vocabulary and to improve students’ learning And I

want to introduce with you "Some experiences of teaching vocabulary for 6 grade students through some games at Ha Binh secondary school" to consult with

colleagues

2.3 The solutions are used to solve the problem.

From practical teaching, I myself thought how we can make students be interested in learning , how can make them realize that learning English is not heavy pressure, so they learn better and especially they can remember new

words faster, easier, longer , I gave some games to teach vocabulary and check

it for 6 grade students at Ha Binh secondary school.

In the process of teaching, I found that stimulating interest of students’

learning is not difficult, but how make them inculcated knowledge is not simple

at all At this age, children are eager to explore, to discover, but very soon forget Therefore, I am always aware how to the class are always fresh and vivid, th classroom atmosphere is always fun In my opinion, the classes take place gently in order to create comfortable psychologie for children, from there, they will memorize easily vocabulary and knowledge

I regularly change the activities in class by organizing games for the children These activities are integrated into the process of transmitting knowledge that they are not getting cornered knowledge, passively from the teacher, they will always feel the real lesson funky, lively, attractive and always look forward to English periods

Depending on the characteristics of each class, each object, content and knowledge capacity of each post, we can practice vocabulary at different times,

at different stages of each post, the formal teaching hours or extracurricular, organized manner

Here are some tricks I use the games summed up in my process of teaching with the aim of helping students increase and memorize English vocabulary in the most natural way I often have students play games in the Warm-up, Free-Practice, after finishing teaching new words or end of the lesson

2.3.1 Letter connecting

- The teacher gives any vocabulary

- Students write other words so that the first letter of the next word must begin with the last letter of the previous word Likewise, until the time specified

(Note: Not including those from the previous iteration)[4]

2.3.2 Make other words

- The teacher gives any vocabulary

- Students write other words so that the first letter of the word must begin with the letters in the phrase that [10]

2.3.3 Slap the board

- The purpose of this game is to help students remember the words and the

pronunciation of words and demonstrate their agility and dynamic

- Select the 2 groups of players, each of 6 children Students arrange in two rows

- Give each group a plastic toy hammer [9]

- Paste the picture cards (depending on the number of lesson units) on the board

- Read aloud a word from the card of stickers Students listen to the word the teacher reads, the two first students run up the board to touch the painting's meaning of the card they have heard, and then they go back to their place, put the hammer to the next person, the touching word right before will be a point

For example: English6: Unit 7 - Lesson 1 - Getting started [1].

Review the words:

- local television

- national television

- comedy

- animal programme

- Game shows - News programme

2.3.4.Find the key word

- Teacher makes suggestions related to the keyword

- Students think and find keywords

2 . 3.5 Matching

- The purpose of this game is to help students review vocabulary by matching words to pictures when connected, words to words

2.3.6 Jumbled words

- The purpose of this game is to help students remember words and spelling words

- Offer some words with the letters disturbed

- Ask students to rearrange to form meaningful words

- Students can do the task in groups, in pairs or individuals

2.3.7 Chain game

- The purpose of this game is to train the students' memory, the concentration and the quick reflexes When participating in this game, they have to really focus on memorizing the words In addition to that, they have the opportunity to practice speaking, practicing the pronunciation

- Divide the class into small groups, each groupe join the game in turn

- Say the first topic sentence, the first student repeats the topic, then add another word, the 2nd students repeats the first student’s phrase and add a word, the 3rd

student repeat the first student’s phrase and then add a word too , so on until the last student in the group

For example: Unit 10 - Lesson 5 - English 6 [1]

Teacher: I am going to draw my future house.

S 1: I am going to draw my future house It will be on the ocean.
