UNIT 7: HOW DO YOU LEARN ENGLISH?

Lesson 2: Part 4-5-6

I Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

- listen and understand text about why learn English

- write about how they learn English

- ask and answer question about the importance of learning English by playing game Charade

II Teaching aids:

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, laptop, speakers.

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III Procedure:

A Warm up: Network

- Give instruction

- Play in 2 groups

B New lesson

Activity 4: Listen and number

Step 1 - Listen to the request of the task and identify the characters in the text Step 2 - Listen to the tape carefully and tick the correct pictures twice

Step 3 - Trade the answer together

Step 4 - Trade the answer on the board

Step 5 *** Listen and feedback with the teacher

Key: 1- c, 2- a, 3- d, 4- b

** Q-A: ask some questions to check understanding about the text:

1 Why does she/he learn English?

2 How does she/he practise English?

Activity 5: Write about you

Step 1 - Identify the text and what they are writing

** Q-A: check understanding about the questions of the task

1 How many questions are there?

2 What does it mean?

Step 2 - Read and get information to do the task

Step 3 - Trade their answers within pairs or groups to compare together (close pairs / open pairs)

** Peer assessment: written: spelling and sentence pattern

Step 4 - One student reads the answers aloud to the groups The others listen and give comments

Step 5 - Trade the answer for correction

** Written: spelling and sentence pattern, praise

Activity 6: Let’s play: How do I learn English

Step 1 - Introduce the rules the game

Step 2 - Divide class into 2 groups to play

- Play the game

** Oral: praise, feedback

UNIT 7: HOW DO YOU LEARN ENGLISH?

Lesson 3: Part 1-2-3

I Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

- listen and identify how to make stress in sentences and wh-questions

- express their interest with learning English and rhythm by chanting: How do you learn English?

II Teaching aids:

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, laptop, speakers.

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III Procedure:

Step 1 - Ask Ss some questions

Do you like English?

How do you learn English?

Why do you learn English?

** Q-A: vocabulary, structure, pronunciation, interaction

B New lesson

Activity1: Listen and repeat

Step 1 -Look at book and listen the words and sentences carefully

- Read the words after the tape

- Read the sentences with the correct stress

Step 2 - Repeat the sentences after the tape

- Practice speaking with the partner

- Turn back the role play

- Change another partner in groups to practice (close pairs / open pairs)

Step 3 - The leader controls and calls classmate in groups to role play

** Oral feedback and comment: pronunciation, intonation.

Activity2: Listen and circle a or b Then say the sentences

Step 1 - Listen to the request of the task and identify the characters in

sentences

- Listen to the tape carefully and circle

- Listen again and check the answers

Step 2 - Trade the answer together

Step 3 - Give out the answers

Step 4 - Listen and feedback with the teacher

Key: 1- b, 2- a, 3- a, 4- b

Activity3: Let’s chant: How do you learn English?

Step 1 - Run through all the sentences of the chant invididually

- Listen the chant carefully

- Read the chant after the tape

Step 2 - Read the chant and clap the hand

- Practice the chant in groups

Step 3 - The leader controls and calls classmate in groups to read the chant

** Oral comments and praise: lyrics, rhythm, clapping and cooperation.

UNIT 7: HOW DO YOU LEARN ENGLISH?

I Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

- read and do task about learning English

- write about how their friend learn English

- make a mind map or tree about learning English in groups

II Teaching aids:

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, laptop, speakers.

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III Procedure:

A Warm up:

- Read the chant How do you learn English in groups.

** Oral comment: lyric, rhythm and cooperation

B New lesson

Activity4: Read and tick True or False

Step 1 - Give instruction.

Step 2 - Read the text carefully to to tick T/F

Step 3 - Trade their answers within pairs or groups to compare together

** Peer: Oral: Feedback the answer with the partner

Step 4 - Some students read the answers aloud

** Q-A: ask some questions to check understanding about the text.

Activity5: Write about how your friends learn English

Step 1 - Give instruction

Step 2 - Identify the text and what they are writing

Step 3 - Ask friend and get information

Step 4 - Write about how your friends learn English

** peer correction: spelling, meaning and sentence pattern

- Some Ss show their piece of writing on the board

** Written :Check and correct about spelling, meaning and sentence pattern.

Activity 6 Project: Discuss how you practice speaking, listening, reading and writing English and draw a mindmap or a tree.

Step 1 - Give instruction

Step 2 - Discuss how you learn English and take notes

Step 3 - Draw a mindmap or a tree about the way they learn English

Step 4 - Show in the board and talk about it

** Oral and written comment: spelling, pronunciation, cooperation and decoration.

Activity 7: Color the stars

- Read the guiding in the book

- Color all the stars if you can do all the tasks

- Review the knowledge

UNIT 8: WHAT ARE YOU READING?

Lesson 1: Part 1-2-3

I Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

- identify some stories and words about reading the crow and the fox, the story of Mai

An Tiem, Aladdin and the Magic Lamp, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, a ghost story

- ask and answer question about a story / book someone is reading by using: What are you reading? - I’m reading a story about Halloween.

- express ther concern about their friend’s book by asking: Do you read book in your free time?What are you reading now? What’s your favourite book/story?

II Teaching aids:

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, laptop, speakers.

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III Procedure:

A Warm up:

- Do the reading test

Of all the school subjects, I like English best I like it because I can use it to talk with Tom and Linda I can speak English fluently and my foreign friends can understand

me I love music and I learn English by singing English songs I hope that I will become an English teacher

- Elicit the words: the crow and the fox, the story of Mai An Tiem, Aladdin and the Magic Lamp, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, a ghost story

- Run through all the words and practice the form invididually

Step 2 - Elicit the new structure: What are you reading?- I’m reading a story about Halloween.

Step 3 -Practice speaking with the partner

Step 4 - The leader controls and calls classmate in groups to role play
