UNIT 4: DID YOU GO TO THE PARTY?

Lesson 2: Part 1-2-3

I Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Identify some words about birthday party: have a good time, have nice food and drink, play hide and seek, chat with friends, watch cartoon and identify past form

of some verbs

- Ask and answer questions about the birthday party by using the sentence pattern:

What did you do at the party? - We .

- Express their concern about the birthday party

II Teaching aids:

1 Teacher’s: Pictures, laptop, speakers.

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III Procedure:

A Warm up

Play game "Guessing” about some activities of birthday party

B New lesson

Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat

Step 1: Discover the picture:

- How many people are there in the picture? Who are they?

- Where are they?

- What are they talking about?

Step 2: - Teach vocab: have a good time

- T introduces the past form of some verbs: ate, sang, danced, played, chatted, watched

-T plays the recording and Ss listen and repeat twice

Step 3: - Have Ss repeat in chorus

- Role play

**Observation and oral gives comments (pronunciation, intonation and performance)

Activity 2: Point and say.

Step 1: - Teach vocab: have nice food and drink, play hide and seek, chat with friends, watch cartoon

Step 2: - Point and say: Ss work in pairs

Step 3: - T calls some pairs to speak out

**Oral: Praise good Ss (pronunciation, intonation, grammar structure)

Activity 3: Let’s talk.

Step 1: Play game Pass the ball: ask and answer questions about you and your friends did

Step 2: Portfolio:

- T passes out the paper sheet and ask Ss write down name of some party's activities

Step 3: - Write down the name

Step 4: - Share answers

**T observes and give feedback (attitude, communication, pronunciation)

**Peer- assessment: drawing the number of smiling faces corresponding to the level.

A Warm up

- Sing the song "Happy birthday"

* Oral: T praises Ss (well done/ good job/ excellent)

- Some Ss report their answers

** Oral:Observation: attitude when working in groups, spelling

Step 1: Introduce the game "Tic-tac-toe"

Step 2: Play the game in two groups

** Observation: lyrics, rythm and attitude when playing.

Lesson 3: Part 1-2-3

I Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Identify the stress of two-syllable words: ‘party, 'Sunday, en'joyed, in'vite

- Pronounce and listen correctly the sounds

- Express their interests to English through the chant

II Teaching aids:

1 Teacher’s: Pictures, laptop, speakers.

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks

III Procedure:

A Warm up:

Play game “Jumbled words”

- Introduce how to play the game

- Play in 2 groups

* Observation and giving feedback (T and Ss): attitude, spelling

B New lesson

Activity 1 Listen and repeat

Step 1: - Look at the words with the stress marks: ‘‘party, 'Sunday, en'joyed, in'vite

T guides Ss how to recognise the difference between the stress of verb and the stress

of noun that have 2 syllables

Step 2: - Listen to the CD and repeat

Step 3: - Some Ss to read aloud the words and sentences

** Oral: Give comments: (T and Ss): pronunciation, intonation

Acttivity 2 Mark the word stress Then say the sentences aloud

Step 1: - Give instruction

** Q-A: ask some questions to check understanding about the task

Step 2: - Mark the stress for each word

Step 3: - Give the answers, check

** Oral: T and Ss ( give feedback)

Step 4: - Read out the words in class and group

Activity 3: Let’s chant

- Read aloud sentence by sentence

- Listen and chant one by one, whole

- Be interesting in making a discussion

1 Teacher’s: Pictures, laptop, speakers.

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III Procedure:

A Warm up

- chant “When was your birthday” and clap their hands.

*T observes, focus on lyrics, rhythm and pronunciation

B New lesson

Activity 4: Read and answer

Step 1: - Introduce how to do the task

Teach vocab: invite, give, comic book, fruit juice, end

Step 2: - Read the passage and answer the questions

Step 3: - share their answers

Step 4: - T calls some Ss go to the board and write down the answer.
