UNIT 3: WHERE DID YOU GO ON HOLIDAY?

Lesson 1: Part 1-2-3

I Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Identify the vocabularies about holiday (summer holiday, go on a trip) and some famous places (Ha Long Bay, Phu Quoc island, Hoi An ancient town, Hue imperial

city)

- Ask and answer questions about past holiday by using sentence patterns: Where did

you go on holiday? - I went to

- Express their concern about some places

II Teaching aids:

1 Teacher’s: pictures, laptop, speakers

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III Procedures:

A Warm up:

- T asks Ss to play the game "Simon say"

- Introduces the new lesson

B New lesson:

Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat

Step 1: Discover the picture:

- How many people are there in the picture? Who are they?

- Where are they?

- What are they talking about?

Step 2: Listen and repeat

- T plays the recording and Ss listen and repeat once or twice

- Have Ss repeat in chorus or in pairs if necessary

Step 3: Share ideas

- Focus on the structure, lead in the new lesson

- Plays the tape and asks students repeat

- T ask Ss to work in pairs

- Teach new words: summer holiday, go on a trip

** T observes and gives comments (pronunciation and intonation)

** Q&A: check Ss’ understanding

Aims of this activity: Asking and answering questions about past holiday.

Step 1: Ask Ss to ask and answer questions about someone's holiday

Step 2: Play game "Pass the ball" to practice by answering 3 questions: Where were you on holiday?

Where did you go?

What was the trip like?

** Oral- feedback: T and Ss (interest, structure, pronunciation and intonation)

- Revise the vocabularies that they have learnt last lesson

- Be interesting in playing game "Find someone who "

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III Procedures:

- Ss find some famous places

I Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Identify some words about means of transport: coach, plane, train, taxi, motorbike,

underground.

- Ask and answer questions about frequency by using the sentence pattern:

How did you get there? - I went by .

- Express their concern about how to get somewhere

II Teaching aids:

1 Teacher’s: pictures, laptop, speakers.

III Procedures:

A Warm up

Play game "Lucky number"

B New lesson

Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat

Step 1: Discover the picture:

- How many people are there in the picture? Who are they?

- Where are they?

- What are they talking about?

Step 2: - Teach vocab: coach, plane, get, go back

-T plays the recording and Ss listen and repeat twice

Step 3: - Have Ss repeat in chorus

- Role play

**Observation and oral gives comments (pronunciation, intonation and performance)

Activity 2: Point and say.

Step 1: -Teach vocab: train, taxi, motorbike, underground

T introduces sentence pattern and gives model: How did you get your hometown?

-I went by train

Step 2: - Point and say: Ss work in pairs

Step 3: - T calls some pairs to speak out

**Oral: Praise good Ss (pronunciation, intonation, grammar structure)

Activity 3: Let’s talk.

Step 1: Play game Pass the ball: ask and answer questions about how you get

to different places

**T observes and give feedback (attitude, communication, pronunciation)

Step 2: Portfolio:

- T passes out the paper printed the pictures about means of transport

Step 3: - Write down their name

**Peer- assessment: drawing the number of smiling faces corresponding to the level

III Procedure:

A Warm up

- Play game "Slap the board"

B New lesson

Activity 4 Listen and write one word in each blank

Step1: - Discover the sentences

Step 2: - Listen and write

Step 3: - Share ideas

- Some Ss report their answers

** Oral:Observation: attitude when working in groups, spelling

Give Feedback and Q-A to check understanding about the text in listening task

Activity 5 Write about your last holiday.

Step 1: - Discover the questions

Step 2: -Write a paragraph based on the suggesting questions

Step 3: - Share ideas

Step 4: - Some Ss go to the board and write down the answers

** Written: focus on spelling

Activity 6 Let’s sing

Step 1: Introduce the new song "How did you get there?"

Step 2: Read the lyrics

Step 3: Listen the song

Step 4: Listen and sing

- Divide class into three groups and song Which group song are good, that group is the winner

** Observation: lyrics, rythm and attitude when singing.

** Oral: T ad Ss: gives comments, checklist (lyrics, rhythm, attitude and volume)

- Make new song by changing the lyrics
