UNIT 2: I’M FROM JAPAN Lesson 2: Part 1-2-3

I Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- identify some words about nationality: Japanese, Malaysian, American, English, Vietnamese and Australian

- ask and answer questions about one’s nationality, using What nationality are you?

II Teaching aids :

1 Teacher’s: book, pictures, CD and computer

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III Procedure:

A Warm up:

Call 2 Ss to sing a song “Where are you from” by their new lyrics

** Peer- assessment: Give comments (creation, rhythm and pronunciation)

B New lesson

Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat

Step 1: Discover the picture:

- How many people are there in the picture?

- Who are they?

- Where are they?

- What are they talking about?

Step 2: - T plays the recording and Ss listen and repeat twice Have Ss repeat

in chorus

Step 3: Role play

**Observation and Oral comments (pronunciation, intonation and sentence patterns)

Activity 2: Point and say.

Step 1: Focus on the structure, pre-teach vocabulary

Vocabulary: nationality, Japanese, Malaysian, American, English, Vietnamese and

Australia

Structure: What nationality are you? I’m ………….

Word-check: Find the missing word

**Q-A to check understanding about meaning of some words by giving the pictures.

Step 2: T makes model with picture a

Step 3: - Point and say by play game one-two-three, using the sentence

pattern:

Step 4: Some pairs ask and answer in front of the class

**Observation and Oral- feedback (pronunciation, body language during asking and

answering, structure)

**Oral: T and Ss: give comments and praise (pronunciation, attitude and structure)

Activity 3: Let’s talk (Free talk)

Step 1: T asks, Ss answer:

- What’s your name?

- How old are you?

- Where are you from?

- What nationality are you?

- What pet do you like?

-What toy do you like?

Step 2: - Role play: introduce yourself and ask where your partner is from and her/ his nationality

- What’s your name?

- Where are you from?

- What nationality are you?

** Observation: focus on pronunciation, communication, structure.

Step 3: -Some pairs ask and answer in front of the class

*** Oral: T and Ss: give comments and praise (pronunciation, attitude and structure)

I Objectives: After the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- revise vocabulary

- listen and write about the country where they are from and their nationality

III Procedure:

A Warm up:

- Have the class play the game: Tic-tac-toe, using the questions: Who is this?

Where is he/she from? What nationality is he/she?

** Oral- Praise: well done/ very good/ good structure   

B New lesson

Activity 4: Listen and number

Step 1 - Discover the picture by asking and answering some questions

Step 2 - Listen and number

Step 3 - Share ideas

Step 4 - Some Ss report their answers

** Observation: attitude when working in groups, pronunciation.

** Oral: Give Feedback and Q-A to check understanding about the text in listening task.

Activity 5: Look and write

Step 1: - Discover the picture (Who is he/she? Where is he/she from? What nationality are you?)

Step 4: - Some Ss go to the board and write down the answers

** Written: focus on spelling

Step 1: - Introduce the game: Find someone who

- T prepares equal numbers of cards with the following words: America, Australia, England, Malaysia, Viet Nam and Japan

Step 2: - Choose the country, talk to their classmates and try to find one who

is from the country they have chosen

Step 3: - Call a few Ss to introduce themselves and their partners, by saying the countries they are from and their nationalities

I Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- identify pronounce two sounds: /j/ and /v/

- listen correctly two sounds: /j/ and /v/

- express their interests to English through the chant

II Teaching aids:

1 Teacher’s: book, pictures, CD and computer

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III Procedure:

A Warm up: Slap the board

Step 1: Introduce how to play the game

Step 2: Play in 2 groups

** Observation and giving feedback (T and Ss): speed, accuracy.

B New lesson

Activity 1 Listen and repeat

Step 1: Look at the words with sound: /j/ and /v/

Step 2: Listen to the CD and repeat

Step 3: Some Ss to read aloud the words and sentences

III Procedure:

A Warm up:

- chant “What nationality are you” and clap their hands.

** T observes, focus on lyrics, rhythm and pronunciation.

Activity 4: Read and complete

Step 1: - Read the passage about Akiko and fill in the given table

Step 2: - share their answers
