Unit 1: A DAY IN THE LIFE OF …

A OBJECTIVES:

I Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, Ss will know more about

- the structure of the reported writing

- knowing how to write the narrative

II Skills: By the end of the lesson, Ss will have further practice in:

- using the past tense to write the narrative

B PROCEDURE:

I Settlement: Greeting and checking students’ attendance

II Checking: No checking

Revision/ Warmer: Asking and answering the questions

T asks Ss to answer the following questions:

- Have you ever heard a frightening or an interesting story?

- When and where did it happen?

- How did you feel about it?

Ss answer the questions

Lead-in: Today, we’ll learn and practice writing a narrative

III New lesson: WRITING

I PRE - WRITING

Pre-teaching vocabulary:

- in the face (exp)

- to stare death in the face

- fasten one’s seat belts

- have only minutes to live

- scream in panic

- announce (v)

* Listen and repeat:

Finding words / phrases.

- Give instruction

- Ask Ss to read the narrative and find all the

past simple and the connectors (time

expressions), the underlin them and wite out

notebook

- Go around to give help

- Give feedback

II WHILE - WRITING

Activity 1: Dividing the narrative.

- Give instruction

- Ask Ss to work in groups to identify the

events, the climax, and the conclusion of the

story

- Go around to give help

- Review the past tense that was used in the narrative

V Homework:

- Complete the writing basing on the teacher’s directions

- Prepare “Language focus” lesson
