- Show the phonics cards, ask students to do
corresponding actions then say the sound of the letter and

E.g Teacher: Show the ‘kite’ card

- Have students sing the chant in lesson 1, keep the
rhythm by clapping their hands and gesturing

Encourage the students to point to the picture of the word
that the teacher says

having the k sound and say them again

- Divide class into two team
- Ask students to look at the picture in activity 6 again
- Call out the items that students see in the picture
- Each student saying 1 correct item will get 1 point for
his/her team

Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1.Warm - up:
- Have students play a game: toss the envelop
Give instruction for the game The students will get an
envelope with the previous flash cards inside While
teacher plays the music, student tosses the envelop to the
next person When the music stop, the student who is
holding the envelop has to pick out one flash card and
read aloud If the student reads correctly, continue to toss
the envelop If the student reads incorrectly, he/she has to
dance following a song then

Act 1 Listen, point and repeat Colour
- Use a card with letter Ll (or write on board the letter Ll)
to introduce to the students the new lesson
- Instruct students how to pronounce the letter name and
the letter sound by saying: “This is the letter L /el /The
letter L says /l /.”
- Repeat several times and check students’ pronunciation
(letter L /el /and its sound /l /)
- Use the phonics cards with lemon, lion, and lollipop,
read the words out loud and have students repeat
- Use gestures (hand actions) to help students to
understand the meanings of the three words
lemon: imitate eating a sour lemon
lion: mime roaring
lollipop: imitate licking a lollipop

words chorally several times (in the correct order and
