I.Aims.

1/Knowledge.

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read and say the three Ff words correctly

-Recognize and say an extra Ff word correctly

- Sing letter Ff song

-Fox, fish, frog

T: teachers’ book, , CD, phonics cards ,paper including the lyrics of the chant

Ss: Student’s book, colour Activity book.

IV/ Procedure

1 Organization

2.Warm up ( 5’)

- Greet students

- Have students sing the chant in lesson 1, keep the rhythm by clapping their hands and doing hand actions

3 New lesson ( 30’ )

* Activity 1 (Track 38) (10’)

- Ask the students to point to the picture of

the word that the teacher says

- Play the CD Have the students listen to

the story once

- Ss; listen and repeat

- Play the CD again The students listen and

point to the pictures of the key words

when they hear them in the story

- Read the story The students follow their

books

- Teacher reads the printed words then let

the students point to the pictures and say

* Activity 2: Say the Sight Words (5’)

- Point to and say the sight words: my,

funny, and, are, with

- Have students repeat

- Ss: work individually and groups

- Call on some students read them aloud and

correct pronunciation (if any)

*Activity 3: Listen, Point, and Say (5’)

- Place phonics cards of fox, fish and frog

around the classroom

- Call out a word, e.g fox The students

point to the correct phonics card

- Alternatively, play the CD (track 38)

- Ask students to listen and point to the

correct phonics cards when they hear the

word

- Ss: work individually

(The teacher could have a student volunteer

to say the word.)

* Activity 4 (Track 39) (7mins)

- Put the frog, fish, and fox phonics cards

up on the board

- Write the names of three animals below

-Review the previous lesson by playing the “Matching game”

- Put up the fox, fish, and frog phonics cards on the board

- Write the words in a column in random order

-Ask individual students t come to the board and match the phonics cards to the words

by drawing lines

3 New lesson ( 30’ )

* Activity 1(10’)

-Point to the letters, name the items and

revise the sounds

-Explain the activity

-Ask students to look at the pictures and

circle the corresponding letters

- Ss: look at the pictures and circle the right

letter

- Ss: work individually and pairs

-Go around and provide any necessary help

* Activity 2 (Track 40) (10’)

Listen, point and repeat

-Show the students the fork phonics card

Point to it and say: /f – fork Ask them to

repeat

-Ask them to choose one word the draw the

letter and the picture in their notebooks

-Tell them to colour the letter and the

picture

-The first students to finish will show their

picture to the class
