Procedure:

I Warmer (5mn) What are historical places in Vietnam you know?

Have you ever been to Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam?

Is this place beautiful?

What do you know about this place?

Lead – in: To know more information about this

place, let’s start our lesson today

II Pre- reading.(10mn)

* Vocabulary.

Guessing picture

Show a picture of HCM’s mausoleum and ask Ss to guess

If Ss can’t guess, T gives suggestion:

It’s a famous place in HN

Lead – in: What do you know about this place?

Today we’ll talk about HCM’s mausoleum and some other

historical places

II Pre- speaking.(12mn)

1 Task 1 Dialogue build

- Question: What do you see in the picture?

Have you ever gone there?

- Run through the information given, explain new words

- Elicit questions from Ss:

* Place: Where is it located/ situated?

* Time: When was it built?

* Floor: How many floors are there?

What is the 1st /2nd floor used for?

* Visiting hours: What are the visiting hours?

What time is it opened/ closed?

* Rules: Are we allowed to take photos inside?

- Make sure Ss know how to answer

- Ask Ss to work in pairs to ask and answer about HCM’s

mausoleum

a chart

II Pre – Writing (15mn)

1 Task 1 Answering the questions

- Show the chart in the textbook

- Introduce: The chart presents some

information about visistors arrivals in

Vietnam from the USA, France and Australia

in 2002 Study the chart and then answers the

questions that follow

- Run through the chart and 6 questions

- Check Ss’answers

- Feedback and correct answers

2 Outline

- Elicit the outline of the description of the

chart

- There are 3 parts:

* Introduction: time, location, what is

described

Eg: The chart shows/ describes / presents

Try to guess what T is drawing,

If they guess correctly at the 1st step, they will get mark 10 the 2nd step, mark 9 …

- Study the chart and 6 questions carefully then answer the questions

- Answers:

Look at the 6 questions again and draw out the outline

Aim: Students know how to:

- spell two syllables /з/ and /Š/ in a word or a sentences

- Comparatives and superlatives

Teaching aids: Textbook Procedure:

I Pronunciation: (10’)

a Give some rules of sounds: /з/ - /s/

- /s/ can stand at the beginning or between of a word - Read and repeat

- Help students how to spell correctly by reading first as

model

- /з/ can stand between of a word (hardly stand behind a

word)

Ex: television, massage, measure

b Practice:

- Read the words first: clearly, correctly

- Listen and correct their pronunciation if it’s needed

- Let students read the sentences and work in groups

- Listen and remark each group

II Grammar: (33’) Comparatives and superlatives -Give example:

I am taller than Mai

She is more beautiful than her mother

I am the oldest in my family

He is the most intelligent boy in the class

- Let students give form of Comparatives and superlatives

using the above examples

-Ask students give some examples

-Ask students work in pairs

-Check up the class as a whole

-Ask students to read the exercise2 and put the words in

the correct order to make sentences or questions

Let students read the sentences given and find out the
