I OBJECTIVES:

1 Education aim:

After the lesson, the students will be able to develop such reading micro- skills as scanning for specific Ideas and guessing meaning in context Use the information they have read to talk about Van Mieu- Quoc Tu Giam

2 Knowledge:

- Sts can talk about Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam

b Language: Sts can recall more about:

- The simple past tense

- Vocabulary to talk about historical places

3 Skills:

- Reading for general ideas and specific information

- Choosing the best suitable words and guessing in context

- Deciding on True or False statements

- Discussing in group

III ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS:

- Students may not have sufficient words to talk about the topic

I BEFORE YOU READ

* Questions:

1 What can you see in the picture?

2 What do you know about this place?

3 Where is it?

4 List some historical places you know in Viet Nam.

* Suggested Answers:

1 Van Mieu- Quoc Tu Giam was founded in 1070 by the

Ly Dynastry Quoc Tu Giam is considered the first

university of Vietnam and was established on the grounds

of Van Mieu.

2 It is located in Ha Noi.

3 Co Loa Citadel, Hoa Lu Capital, Con Son- Kiep Bac

Site, Den Hung Remain, Pac Bo Site, Dien Bien Phu Site,
