Lesson 22: Non- Defining relative clause

A Aims

1 Objectives : By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to:

- Use the non-defining relative clause correctly in related contexts

- Do exercises related to the relative pronouns and non-defining relative clause

2 Teaching aids:

- blackboard, chalk, handouts

- textbook, lesson plan

B Procedures

I Organization

- T checks the number of students and asks Ss

to make some class arrangement

II Checking the old lesson

- T calls on one student to go to the board and

asks some questions about him/her

- T gives comments and marks

III New lesson

1 Warm- up :

Noughts and crosses

- T divides the class into 2 groups, instructs

them how to play the game

- T gets sts to play the game

- T declares the winner

2 Grammar :

Non-defining relative clause

a Presentation

- T writes the example about the relative

clause on the board and asks sts to comment

on them

Eg: - Tan Yen post office, which was built a

long time ago, is very large.

- T elicits the comments from sts and makes

clear that:

- T summarizes the main points of

the lesson by asking the question

How to combine a sentence by using the

relative pronoun.
