A Aims:

1 Objectives.

By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to:

 Distinguish the sounds / m /, / n /, / /

 Pronouce the words and sentences containing these sounds correctly

 Distinguish the uses of different verb tenses: the past simple, past progressive,

and past perfect

2 Teaching aids.

B Procedure:

I Organization:

- T checks the number of students and asks

Ss to make some class arrangement

1 min - The monitor reports the number

of students in his/her class to the teacher

II Checking the old lesson:

- T asks 2 Ss to complete the following

sentences:

+ Would/ you/ like/ have/ cold drink//

- T comments and gives marks

5 mins - complete the T’s sentences

- listen to the T’s remarks

III New lesson:

1- Warm- up:

- T gets Ss to play a game

- T divides the class into 2 teams and then

asks each team to find as many words as

possible consisting of the letters /m/, /n/,

- which team finds more words than the

other will be the winner

T leads Ss to the new lesson

2 Pronunciation:

/ / by pronouncing them clearly and

slowly

- T reads aloud the words once or twice

- T asks Ss to pronounce and repeat the

words several times

Present simple

- Form:

+ bare root for I, you, we, they

+ verb + s/es for he, she, it

- Meaning: present time

- Use:

+ use the simple present to express the

idea that an action is repeated or usual

+ express a truth, a habit,

Present continuous

- Form: am/ is/ are + V-ing

- Meaning: present time

- Use:

+ use the present continuous with normal

verbs to express the idea that something is

happening now, at this very moment

Present perfect

- Form: have/ has + past participle

- Meaning: present

- Use:

+ we use the present perfect to say that an

action happened at an unspecified

timebefore now The exact time is not

important Sometimes it is used to show that

something started in the past and has

continued up until now

Past simple

- Form: V + ed or irregular verbs

- Meaning: past time

- Use:

+ use the simple past to express the idea

that an action started and finished at a

specific time in the past

Past continuous

- Form: was/ were + V-ing

- Meaning: past time

- Use:

+ use the past contiuous to indicate that a

longer action in the past was interrupted

The interruption is usually a shorter action

in the simple past or a specific time
