problems of population booms and solutions to these problems

2 Skill: - talking about the causes of population explosion ,problems of population booms and solutions to

these problem

3 New lesson : (2’)

Warm Up ( 5’)ives the picture and asks them two questions

 What can you see in the picture ? in the picture 1,the earth looks like an old ,tired man with too many people on his head ,shoulders and arms

 What does the picture tell you ? The picture tells us that the earth may not properly

accommodate too many people we are facing overpopulation

 Today we ‘ll study how to talk about the causes of population explosion ,problems of population booms and solutions to these problems

Pre-speaking ( 12’)

Before letting sts do the task, asks

them to read through the causes

provided on page 83

- makes sure that sts understand

these statements

- gets sts to work in pairs to order

the causes and reminds them to

explain their order

-goes around to observe and

provides help

- calls on some pairs to present

their order and asks other pairs if

they agree or disagree with their

friends’ answers

While- speaking ( 15’)

- asks sts to read the useful

language on page 83

- reminds sts that they should

match the words /phrases on the

left with the words /phrases on the

right

Now sts work in pairs to list the

problems of poor and

overpopulated countries T may ask

them to think of other problems not

mentioned in the book

You are going to put the following causes

to overpopulation in order of importance and explain your decision

1 People are not properly educated

2 People are not aware of population explosion

3 Fewer children die at birth

4 Many people believe that having a large family is a

form of insurance

5 People believe that having many children means

happiness

6 Religion doesn’t permit people to have fewer children

Model :

A: It says in the newspaper that the world population is increasing so fast what do you think is the main cause

of the population explosion ? B: I think it’s because people are not properly educated so they feel free to have more children A: I quite agree with you

B: that’s it ,so the government has to do more to control the growth of population

II/ TASK 2 : You are going to work in pairs to list the problems facing poor and

overpopulated countries Model :

A: what can be problems that face poor and overpopulated

countries?

B: I think people living there have bad living conditions and

not enough food to eat There is also a lack of schools and hospitals

A: And what’s more there aren’t enough jobs for everyone B: Their lives are terrible and their children are often illiterate

A: That sounds good but what do they

do exactly ? B: They should carry out population education programs and tell them about family planning
