-T greets the class -Ss stand up and greet T

-T asks the monitor who is absent

2.1.Activity 1: Arrange the following words into 3 groups : / r/, /spl/, /spr/

Shred, shrill, spring, splash, spray, split, shrimp, spleen, spread

2.2.Activity2: Listen and repeat :

-T asks Ss to pay attention to the consonants underlined and asks:

* Are these words pronounced differently

or the same?

-Ss listen to and answer

*Expected answer:differently -T introduces the new lesson by eliciting the consonant clusters:

“Today we are going

to learn about 3 consonant clusters / r/, /spl/, /spr/ ”

-Ss work individually and then go to the board write the words

in the right column -T calls Ss to give some words

*Answer:

REDUCED RELATIVE CLAUSE : 3.1.Present participle phrase:

3.1.1.Example:

The man spoke to John.He is my brother

The man who spoke to John is my brother

Relative clause Another way :

The man speaking to John is my brother

Participle phrase 3.1.2.Notes:

-We can use a present participle to replace a relative clause which has an active meaning

-The way of reducing : +Step 1: Remove ralative pronoun

+Step 2:Verb in relative clauseinfinitive +Ing

superlative adjectives.
