1 WARM-UP

1 What was the rate of literacy in Viet nam in 2000?

2 What do we do to reduce the rare of illiteracy people ?

II PRESENTATION Topic: School problems

Think of 4 school problems Write down on the table and offer solutions

Grammar:

1 Tenses verb

Tense Form

S1 + V + O S2 + Vs/ Ves + O Present simple

S + do not/ does not + V

I, we, you, they

He, she, it

S + is/am/are + Ving Preent conti

S + be not + Ving

She is reading

I am cooking

Present perfect S + have/has + V3/Ved I have received 2 cards.

S + Ved / C2 Worked, went Past simple

S + did not + V She did not go… Past conti S + was/ were + Ving

Past perfect S + had + V3/ Ved

2.Reported speech

You want to tell somebody else what Tom said

There are two ways of doing this

1 You can repeat Tom’s words ( direct speech ) Tom said “ I am feeling ill “

Or you can use reported speech Tom said that he was feeling ill

Sts work individually

T calls 3 sts to read their writing

T comments and corects

T asks sts to do exercises

Sts work in pairs to do the exercises

T gives the handouts

T has pupils sit in groups of 4 to discuss

and do the exercise

When we use reported speech, the main verb is usually in the past ( Tom said that ……./ I told her that ……

In general , verb forms is changed as followind:

- presenr simple – past simple: am, is – was/ are – were

- present conti - past conti : am, is Ving – was Ving are Ving - were Ving

- Past simple and present perfect – past perfect worked / went – had worked / had gone have gone - had gone

III.Practice

I Talk about a school problems and offer solutions.

Example :My shool have many problems, for example, many

students work lazily I think teacher should regularly check them and punish them

II Change in to reported speech.

1 “ I am living in London” she said

She said that ………

2 “ My father isn’t very well “ Nam said

3 “ Hoa has had a baby “

4 “ I saw Hellen at a party “

5 “ I like playing game “ Keys:

1 I was living 2 his father wasn’t well 3 Hoa had had a baby

IV Production Exercise : ( hand outs ) .

5.HOMEWORK

Do the exercise 1 again

Change in to reported speech

1 He said, 'Don't walk on the ice; it isn't safe.'

2 'Miss Brown, this is Miss White Miss White, Miss Brown,' he said.

3 'Here are the car keys You'd better wait in the car,' he said to her.

4 'Please, please, don't tell anyone,' she said.

I won't, I promise,' I said.

5 'Would you like my torch?' I said, holding it out.

'No, thanks,' he said I have one of my own.' {Omit thanks)

6 Tom: I'll pay.
