A Aims

1 Objectives : By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to:

- Define the format and structure of an informal letter of invitation

- Write an informal letter of invitation

2 Teaching aids:

- blackboard, chalk, handouts

- textbook, lesson plan

I Organization

- T checks the number of students

and asks Ss to make some class

arrangement

II Checking the old lesson

- T calls on 1 student to talk about

one of the parties he/she attended or

organized

- T gives comments and mark

III New lesson

1 Warm- up: Competition game

- T prepares handouts of a jumbled

letter in advance and divides the class

into groups of 4 T distributes the

handouts and introduces the task

- T declares the winners (The winner

will be the group which has the

quickest and correct answer.)

- T gets sts to read the completed

letter again and elicits the features of

an invitation letter

- T tells sts that an invitation letter

normally includes:

+ The event (birthday, wedding )

+ The place (at school, at home )

+ The time and date ( )

+ The invitation itself ( )

The jumbled letter.

of students in his/her class to the teacher

classmates to a party that you hold

- T gets sts to work out the content of

their letters by answering the

questions in Task 1

questions and elicits more ideas from
