Aims: To help students learn and practice sub-skills of reading.
Objectives: By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
- Explain the meaning in context
- Read the passage for comprehension
- Remember the main ideas of the passage
- Talk about their own hobbies
Skills: Guessing meaning in context, scanning for specific information and passage
comprehension
Teaching aids & materials: textbook, pictures, handout, posters, blackboard.
Lexical items: accomplished, fish tank, accompany, occupied, discard.
PROCEDURE

up

Game: Bingo!
- T asks Ss to close their book
- T shows a list of relaxing activities
- T asks Ss to take a piece of paper
- T gives the instruction to play game:
“I have a list of activities which people often do in their free time You will choose any four words and copy them into your paper I will read out the words in any order.
Each time, if you have one of the words that I read, you put
a tick next to that word The first student to tick all four words will say “Bingo!” and win the game.”
- T checks the instruction:
T: How many words do you choose?
Ss: Four T: What do you do if you have four correct words?
Ss: Say “Bingo!”
- Ss play the game
- T declares the winner and gives gift

Task 2: Read the passage and answer the questions:

After 4 minutes, T asks Ss to play the game “ Lucky
Numbers”
- T divides the whole class into two teams: A & B
- T gives the instruction:
+ There are 6 numbers: 2 lucky numbers and 4 normal
numbers
+ You will take turn to choose the number If your number
