I OBJECTIVES

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

+ Listen to a dialogue and practice the modal verbs “can, should, ought to, must” + Further practice in making, accepting and refusing an invitation using modal verbs

1 Language focus:

+ Vocabularies: The words related to sports, leisure activities

+ Structures:

2 Anticipated problems:

- Ss may get mistakes when they do exercises

- Ss might not understand teacher’s instructions

- Teaching aids (computer/ projector) won’t be working

3 Attitude: Ss are excited about the lesson and take part in activities heartily

4 Living skills: Ss can develop their listening and speaking skills.

- T introduces about herself and asks some questions:

+ How are you?

+ What’s the weather like today?

+ Which sports do you like?

- T lets Ss play the game called “Word square”.

- T sticks 2 tables like this one on the board.

- T divides class into 2 groups, each group will have

2 minutes to discuss and circle the words that has meaning After that, they will go to the board and stick the answers as fast as possible

- T checks the answer of each group.Which group has more correct words and finishes faster will be the winner and receive a small gift

* Key:

+ Vertical: BASKETBALL, + Horizontal: BADMINTON, SOCCER, SWIMMING

+ Cross: VOLLEYBALL, CYCLING

- T says: OK, so to practice asking and answering

- T writes down the title of lesson on the board

- T uses this picture to introduces the situation of the dialogue

- T says: This is Nam and Ba Ba invites Nam to play

basketball but Nam can’t Finally, they plan to play together on Friday Now, let’s listen to the conversation of them

- T asks Ss to look at the dialogue on their textbooks and listen to the tape

- T has Ss work in pairs reading the dialogue

- T calls on 2 or 3 pairs to practice in front of the class

- T corrects the pronunciation

- T asks Ss to make similar dialogues using the cues given in the box replacing the underlined words

- T does a model first
